Hi All,
My name is Donna and I will undergoing gastric bypass Feb. 9, 2012. I hope this support group is different than the three others I visited. No one wrote me  . I hope to make some friends on this site and be a friend to others that are going through the same things I am. I can talk to my husband some, but, I need to talk to someone who understands what I'm going through. I'm a great listener and cheerleader when you need be to be. Time is getting close and I'm getting nervous folks! I'm 52 , married with three grown children, one which still lives with us, because he is "school loan" poor, I have a granddaughter who is 13 months old. I can't see her like I would like to because she lives in Colorado.
I go for my pre-op testing this Thursday. It seems like the time is going by so slow. I'm working on a cross-stitch for my doctor. It's Norman Rockwell's "Getting A Shot" It's a lot of work, as anyone can tell you that does cross-stitch. I just want him to know how much I appreciate him. He's giving me chance to live again! I thought I would stop awhile and look at this web-site, my eyes were getting blurry doing cross-stitch. You have to stop every once and a while, so your eyes will refocus, plus I'm doing laundry too!

welcome!! my surgery is on January 31st and I agree with you about time going slowly right now!! I miss doing cross stitch - my eyes just aren't up to it anymore... my daughter asked me on Christmas if she gets to take her Christmas stocking with her when she moves out (she's 11) and I told her of course she does, I made it for her!! I've made one for my 3 nieces, my nephew and both of my girls. I only do counted cross stitch - I don't like using a hoop and you really need one to do stamped cross stitch.
Anyway, I think you'll be happy with the level support here!!

I know what you mean about seeing your grandbaby. Mine actually lives in KY, Rineyville to be exact. We're hoping to move to E-town some day to be closer to her. We were also stationed at Ft. Knox and loved KY.

Wow! I was so overwhelmed by all the lovely responses from all theses wonderful ladies out there! Thanks for your welcome notes. They were all so friendly and I think I'm going to feel at home here. Also, the notes of encouragement really mean alot to me. It feels good to talk to someone who has been through what I'm about to go through, and to be there for the ones that are going to have surgery. I'll try my best to navigate through this site. It looks kind of complicated! LOL! I will let everyone know how my pre-op testing goes. Thanks again girls! I'm looking forward to staying in touch with each and everyone of you!
