| Hard Times... Hi Y'all; Man 2 mos ago I felt soooooo good. I was losing weight at a rate of 3lbs a week. I thought that 2- 3 lbs in a week was a moderate amount, considering the extremely restricted weight loss plan that was prescribed for me (protein sparing modified fast--less than 1000 cal a day). I am a non-OP due to $ and ins issues... ...but for health reasons needed to lose weight FAST. My problem is that 2 months ago I weighed 208. Now, a FULL 8 weeks later, I weigh 206. I mean really! I don't have cravings for food. I'm not bored with my protein shakes, etc. BUT I can't possibly cut back anymore. I expect a plateau now and then, where I don't lose as MUCH for a short period, OR perhaps I lose NO weight for 3- 4 weeks. It's never been more problematic than that. The high protein nocarb plan I'm on is designed/intended to keep fat burning--rather than getting into that "I'm starving therefore I lose no weight" mode. My DOCTOR actually doesn't believe that I am strictly adhering to the plan, and insists that I must be "grazing" somewhere in my day. I'm NOT!!! I'm seriously contemplating any variant of sugar from the few things that I DO have, and cutting the fat free creamer out of my coffee/tea (all I can think of). I can't ramp up on exercise at this point because I have a severe degenerative spinal disorder. The more weight I lose, the less pain and medication I'll take--and be able to hopefully exercise. I'm soooooooo frustrated!!! Any suggestions? Mya

I'm sorry to hear u r frustrated, been there done that myself. The only advise I can give you is keep doing what u r doing and maybe exercise a little more. Keep being positive, I am a true believer of positive thinking. Your body is just in revolt mode. It is hanging on to see if u r serious or not, once your body sees that u r eventually it will have to give in. Just remain on course and it will happen for u. ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))

VERY difficult
((HUG)))
We can all relate being there one time or another trying to loose
and sticking and things not moveing......
anyway...
if i remember correctly from my days on ATKINS which is a high protein lo carb plan....people would run into a YEAST issue that prevented them from looseing no matter how much they adhered to induction of atkins. HERES how to do the test:
First off, first thing in the morning before you eat or drink, spit into a clear glass of water....keep checking every few minutes to see if yur saliva becomes cloudy or starts forming legs to the bottom of the glass. if it does you have yeast in your body. If it stays clear and floats on top of the water you are yeast free. Well, our saliva was definitely yeast positve. immediately stopped all COW products and foods containing yeast such as mushrooms, vinegar, soy sauce and a few more are mentioned under "yeast" in the Atkins book. There is a lot of info in the book. I think he states that about 80% of people have it and don't realize they do. We also supplemented (after further investigating)with Oil of Oregano capsules and some Raw, Organic, unfiltered vinegar, 2 teaspoons in a small glass of water 3-4 times a day and digestive enzymes and garlic(4 capsules a day) and drink detox tea by Yogi tea three times a day. Well, needless to say the results are amazing!!! Flat stomach, NO BLOATING and an incredible FAST weight loss. What a STALL BUSTER!!!!!
HELPED many folks....
and maybe its ur issue......
GOOD luck and let me know if u need to know the supplement
its a big word beginning with A...but i can find it out...
good luck
i belive in ya

| Thanks for the responses! I thing the big word is Acidophilus, maybe? That's what's in Yogurt that is supposed to be good for clearing up yeast infections. The 'test' is simple enough. I'll do that. XOXO

Just don't get discouraged, keep plugging along, that's the most important thing. If you get discouraged and give up, that's the end of all the hard work you put in so far. This is where patience comes in. Keep at it patiently, and you will get there, you've done so well so far.
Give your dr a mental kick in the @** for doubting you!
I hope Lisa's solution works for you!!

Mya,
First of all I want you to know really know how great of a job you have done already. You have already lost all by yourself 72 lbs. That is just simply amazing. I know the only time I was a sucess at losing weight I got hung for 4 months at the same weight. Hoever i stopped worrying about it. My weight the Dr at the time wanted me at was 170. Im a tall girl 5'10. I got to 220 and just sit there. This was a diet i did myself by just watching calories and doing walking. Now....belive this or not I changed the time of day I walked and moved a iceream I enjoyed eveyday as a snack to a differnt time. And I started losing again. I didnt cut back any more eating.....or take on more walking. I just changed the time of day I did this. That was a Drs suggestion that I thought he was nuts but after I did it it worked. Your body gets on a cycle expecting things at certian times I think. This is when I was younger yes.....but I think It should still work. Perhaps try that? And again you have did a amazing job at this without surgery. Im proud of you!

YES MYA that was the term i was thinking of but
was blank...little rusty on some of my AKTKINS rules.
BUT there is an entire chapter dedicated to this yeast
issue in Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution being this does
cause some to not loose. GOOD luck
i sure would love to hear it was this!
BUT if not just keep plugging along and the results
will come in all good time!

| I am trying to be patient and keep my chin up. It's just that I thought my expectations were pretty low. Some weeks I lost a lot, some a little. It evened out to 3- 4lbs a week for 5 mos. So I thought, w/the ups and downs, even w/the extreme diet I would only get an avg of 3lbs a week. If I'd done that over this 9 month period, I would have lost 44lbs MORE by now. It's hard when you see other people lose 100 lbs in 6- 9 mos!!! I realize that the WLS DOES affect your absorption of calories--and I haven't had that. BUT my eating (actually drinking mostly) is so MINIMAL in terms of calories!!! Errrrrrr. Thanks for listening to me whine and giving such wise/kind feedback! XOXO Mya

| Man oh MAN! Lisa... I think you may have given me the darn key to why I can't get any lower than I have and why oh why even with the tough tough ab work outs that I do why my belly sticks OUT..the trainer even is bewildered...anyway!!! what is funny is it makes sense to me. One I periodically take diflucan *not for vag yeast* for another condition and when I do I feel sooo much better, have more energy etc.. plus in the cabinet I have pearls of acidophilis, the diflucan, and someone was just telling me at work about the organic cider vinegar! ..hmm..I'll be spitting into the glass tomorrow! --bree
