Unhappy Worries

I'm worried. I am five months post-op and the weight loss comes by leaps and bounds. I go for three weeks not losing anything than in one week I will lose any where from 15-20 pounds. I know I'm losing I mean wow almost a hundred pounds already................ But, the in between times. I seem to fluctuate, I will gain one pound and cry but than the next day be down five than the day after be back up three. I can't get in to see my doctor for a whole month still. And I find myself struggling with not wanting to eat all day having to make myself, than seeming famished all evening tell I go to bed. I feel as if somehow I'm screwing this up and until now I have only one other person to talk to about this that would understand because she recently had the surgery to. But of course I can only take what she says with a grain of salt. She had already been drinking sodas and eating what she was not suppose only weeks after surgery. I feel that I am eating to much for being so soon after surgery, I hope that someone can help me with my struggles. I'm sure others have felt how I do how do you calm yourself through these times, waiting for your reply's.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Aww. Dont be upset. Everyone reacts differently to this ya know. You really cant compare your friends experience to yours or it will drive you nuts. I'm struggling with losing and regainging. it seems that at my time of the month i regain 10 lbs every month, only to have to lose it all over again and then some. I KNOW your frustrated but relax.

You said you think you are eating too much. About how much are you eating and what are you eating? Also what are you drinking? This info might help with the advice others can give.

I know its easier said than done but please dont stress yourself out. You are doing great. We all go thru this or something similar and I am sure others will be posting shortly to support you. Chin up

one I would say first...please please! look into getting some therapy to help you learn NEW coping skills and dealing with this emotional time.

You WILL get through this and YOU have learn what works best for you. Maybe just eating on a set schedule would work best for you so that you don't 'graze' when you are emotional.

Frankly I always say after this surgery we don't have the "luxury" of eating when we -FEEL- like eating. We have to eat to feed our bodies, it's no longer about emotions and stuffing feelings down.

I was one of those whose weight would go up, then down, then down, then up again...a 'slow' loser...until I had the hystero and removed the uterus, then it went whoosh! but that was nearly a year out when that happened.

definitely I wouldn't take the advice of someone you KNOW isn't doing things 'right'...grain of salt indeedy hon.

{{{hugs}}} you WILL get through this and we're here for you during that process....think of it this way...this time of adjustment after the surgery is about LEARNING ....you'll learn what works for you and you will be successful..

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on your weight loss.

Your ups and downs, both emotionally and physically, are quite normal with this journey. Look through old posts, you'll see a lot of people writing about having been emotional especially throughout the first year.

The weighloss does not come in one smooth roll, if you plot it, it's not going to be a smooth downward curve. Rather, it's going to be like a series of stairs. Dropping suddenly, staying the same for a while, maybe going up a little, especially around that time of the month, then dropping again. So, the way your weight is coming down is quite normal, and how it should be.

As for how much you eat. Consider, how much did you eat before your surgery? How much did you eat when you gained weight pre op. Do you think you can eat that much, even if you tried to? I bet not.
Actually, your pouch now is much smaller than your mouth. (!!) It is physically impossible for you right now to eat enough to regain to where you were pre op, or for you to stop losing. Consider tha girl you mentioned, who's doing a lot of stuff she isn't supposed to, she is still losing, even though slowly (and she probably will stop early, if she keeps going on the way she is), so, if you are doing your best to stick to your surgeon's instructions, there is no way you will not lose. The only thing is, you won't lose as your brain wills, you will lose only as your body wants to, so even if it's not going like your brain wants it to, you are still succeeding, not failing.

Also, as Bree says, if you are having a hard time controlling your emotions, it may in the end be easier and better for you to get some professional help in dealing with your emotions. Part of your not wanting to eat may be from depression, rather than other factors.

((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

Default Eating & Drinking

In response to your question on how much and what I eat and drink. Well normally, like today I had for breakfast a quarter cup of vegies(zuchini, mushrooms & onions) and of course water befor and after. For lunch I had half a quarter cup pf soup and about ten grapes. And all I ever drink any more is water. I don't think I've had anything besides water sense I tryed crystal light a couple months ago and it made me sick. Oh and occasionally I'll have a half a cup of coffee and if I need it sweetened I use half a teaspoon of splenda. I still try to stay away from pastas, breads and stuff like that, I tryed pasta a while ago and no go ewww, when I feel like I'm hungry inbetween meals I eat a small piece of fruit or a piece of cheese. And I've recently switched to vegies patties and all vegie sousages, I think they taste better. I've just recently retroduced wheat crackers into my diet as well. But I have tryed to stick to what the doctor said to do, besides things they said to stay away from for a while if I tryed it it made me sick so no problem ain't doing it. I just get worried cause it seems like I don't stay full or get full. And I find myself wanting to snack off and on at night, even when I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hope this helped with your question. Also I try to drink 64 oz. of water a day. Not easy let me tell you.

o. just by looking I guess my first question is, are you getting in your dr's required amount of protein? I know trying to get in all the liquids is VERY challenging, but you are eating mostly fruits and vegetables. Where's the chicken, beef, or fish? Are you using a protein shake to supplement?

Sorry for asking so many questions. I'm just curious.

good point lisa. i didnt even think of that. I was just struck by not seeing the protein in the diet. i suppose what you say about it being frustrating overall is true as well lol! because losing in smaller increments over a long period of time is just as frustrating

Oh definitly getting the protien the vegie patties are packed with it and I eat eggs every other day and lots of fish and chicken usually for dinner. But as far as the protien drinks my doctor kind of frowns on them he feels that people become to dependant on them and prefers that I try not drinking them except as a last resort.
