Had my knee surgery and I am back at work. My knee feels so much better and the pain is all gone. Everything was fine as far as the surgery went. I did get some type of infection but in my throat and mouth. I had blisters all down my throat and in my mouth and on my tongue. My doctor compounded a medicine for me and it is getting better. Made it very difficult to eat -- not a nice way to make me diet...LOL. No one will say I got it from the hospital and the surgery, but I think I did. It was like a severe case of thrush. I have less than 4 weeks till my wls. Hopefully I will be over it completely. I sure hope it doesn't happen after that surgery.

Wow on the already recovery from the knee surgery. I might be wrong but.... it may have been a reaction to the medication you were taking. That is a big possiblity. You need to find out what it was so they can list it in your chart so they will pay attention to it next time. I hope all is well.

Glad to know your knee's doing well now. Sorry to hear about the thrush, hmm, now that MsVickie mentions reaction to medication, another possibility is reaction to the tube they used for anesthesia and breathing. You could be allergic to the stuff it's made of, and another possibility is that the tube was not completely strelized. If it's some sort of allergic reaction, you'll need to keep the name of whatever caused it in your records to prevent future reactions.

Ladyhawk, Glad your knee surgery went so well. Darn mouth stuff! That sounds painful. I hope it was not from any of the things Doc and MsVickie are thinking but best try to find out before WLS. I am allergic to adhesive tape and they put a big RED band on me with an alert. Evertime they would stick me they would put.... guess what.... on me. Yep adhesive tape. Honestly not one nurse looked at the alert, but as I said before this hospital was not the greatest in my book anyway. Which, by the way, I will be informing them soon of all the things they did wrong. Thank God either I was alert enough or my husband was there to divert anything serious from happening. That's a long long story but another time. Anyway, I am getting excited about your big day coming and you can officially say "this month". Keep smiling sweety. Mattie

Thanks everyone. I can't seem to get ready of the mouth thing. I don't have the sores on the inside of mouth anymore, but my tongue still has them and it is still swollen. I guess I will have to go to the doctor. I just hate using up my sick leave for this....
