Default When did you/do you plan to return to work?

So I was bouncing around the forums reading all your wonderful stories and it got me thinking... Why is it so different Dr. to Dr. when you should return to work? I realize that some have open and others lap, and some heal faster than others, but it seems to me that the things are pre-ordained even before the surgery.

I was told that I could return to work PT after two weeks. I told them that short term disability covered me at 100% and that I should just stay out the extra week to ensure I get my full pay. Dr agreed. So thats three weeks. Then I found out STD approved me for 4 which I will make sure with my boss is OK to take.

When did you or do you plan on returning to work?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I went back to work after 1 week. My Doctor said anytime after 1 week that you felt like it and you were not on pain medication you could resume normal activity.

I was approved for up to 6 weeks on my job but I was going stir crazy at home so I went back to work.

In addition, I am the Director over fiscal affairs for a large hospital in my area and I had just hired 3 new employees so I was a little weary about taking the time off when I really did not need it.

I am just crazy I returned to work part time 2 weeks after having a Cesariean. I must have a high tolerance for pain.

I was out a bit over a month. My surgeon said one month. Which worked out to be a Wednesday. So instead I went back the following Monday. So a bit over 4 weeks. I thought that was perfect. But I have heard of others like Rozz that go back after 2 weeks with no problems. My biggest problem was my energry level. My surgeon had warned that my energy woldnt kck in until 4-6 weeks and that was just about right.

It depends on the surgeon. I guess it depends on what exactly they do how they do it and how they have seen there patients due. I told yall Mine stated 6 weeks and 8 if he said so. Its because of the weakness that comes on the later end. He told me he had to many call back and begged for more time after 3-4 weeks off. The place his office is located is in a factory oriented community and people physcially work hard. Im not saying people dont work hard behind a desk but to perform physcial hard labor verses sitting down all day is a big old difference.

Me being a nurse im up moving pull and moving patients alot around so he dont want me returning early. Thus the Drs decision

After my lap surgery was two weeks and I was ready to go back after one. I had so much energy but stayed off the two weeks. I was back to work for one week and developed complications that could have happened from any abdominal surgery and had to have an open surgery. Six weeks for that one. I am back two weeks now and still get tired, but the good thing is I take my morning break to walk which I wasn't doing at home while sitting on the couch watching the Food Network!

My Dr. made me go back in 2 weeks. I didn't push the issue, but gosh I would have LOVED to be off more time. I was soooo afraid of trying new foods at work and having issues.
