Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Default Not quite 2 weeks, but Thursday... 2 weeks.

I'm ok here. First day taking care of Shelby by myself, isn't so bad this time. We even went outside to play for about 20 minutes, then it was too hot and humid so in we came.

My incisions all look good except for the big one on the left. It keeps leakng or something so I keep gauze on it to protect my clothing.

Went grocery shopping yesterday, so I am fully armed for this 3 week high protein liquid diet that I will be on until pureed starts week 5 (coincidentally, the same week I plan on returning to work). I do go outside the diet. Today for lunch I had (4) very thin slices of turkey breast (2 oz it weighed) and I chewed, chewed, chewed thoroughly. Then I had 2 oz of sf vanilla pudding (again not on this diet). But both did well. Later I will be good and have cream of celery with some lf cheese (this IS on the diet plan).

Some days I am better at tracking what I input, other days I get too tired and stop caring. Yesterday I relaxed and slept all day except for the grocery store.

I tire easily. But I am not depressed. I find myself smiling a lot and anxious to see what new posts there are. I also found myself in my closet looking to see what clothes are the next size down and what season they are. Have to prepare for my return to work. I was hoping to be 55 lbs lighter by the time I go back to work (week 5), but I haven't been losing as fast the last couple of days. Actually I dont think I have lost anything the last couple of days, since I hit 40 lbs. Maybe my tool is broken. Or maybe they didnt really do the surgery, they just cut me open.

Also, regarding my mental well-being... I am a bit worried about the threads that discuss divorce and 90% of post ops end in divorce. I didnt realize prior to surgery this was so high. I didnt sleep well last night thinking of it. Hubby says not to worry, that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger and he believes that both of us getting healthy will make our family stronger, and more active. I just hope he's right.

Tina, I wouldn't worry about the divorce rate thing. Your hubby has been very supportive of you. I think that divorce rate comes from couples who are both morbidly obese and only one wants to change.

I too rearranged my closet and organized my clothes by sizes 24, 22, 20, and 18. I was amazed that I actually have sufficent clothes to get me down to the size 18. My size 19 wardrobe is very small. Not enough to make it through a work week of professional dress.

My weight loss has slowed down too. The last 4 days I was the same weight and then this am it was down 2 lbs. Just hang in there, you have lost 40 lbs your body just needs to catch up.

How do you do it? How do you stay so positive all the time? You are so strong and such a good role model. What do you do for a living, if I may ask?

Thanks for the completment....

I work as a paralegal for federal prosecutors.... lol..... a little scary huh...lol I am kind of jaded therefore, I believe that if you are arrested by law enforcement --- you probably did it..... see I told you jaded.

I figure life is too short to worry to much, we can't really change it anyway. When I was young, my mom always told me to give my problems to God, he was going to be up all night anyway...

Tina, just hang in there. We are riding this roll-a-coaster ride together and it will be fine. In a few months we are both going to be so much thinner, healthier, and we will probably be "Eye Candy" LOL You will be a sexy mom and me a sexy grandma....LOL

You must always be the one in the family people turn too - for your stength and wisdom.

I surely hope I can be stronger from this ordeal. It sure will be neat to see things when its done.

Tina,

I've read about that statistic & divorce too, but I've also heard that the surgery really just reinforces what already is in a marriage. If a marriage is strong it becomes stronger and if it's weak it becomes weaker. I agree with Ladyhawk. Your DH has been supportive of you and sounds like you have a wonderful family to love you through all of these changes. You're doing so beautifully! Keep up the great work!

Amy

You're right.

Sometimes, when I do research on the internet, I take things too much to the heart.

It's like when I was doing research for WLS. I originally wanted the lapband because I had read so many horror stories on the internet about gastric bypass. But after meeting with the surgeon, she explained things to me. She said the lap band is an actual product, so the manufacturer of the product markets REALLY well. With gastric bypass, there is no product. People are expected to use their tool and use it well. When they fail, they automatically blame their tool. This is what I was reading online, negative comments about surgery.

So you saying you read this somewhere, sure makes me feel a bit better. Thanks!
