Default Obessed with the scale

I have been weighing myself multiple times a day. It's making me feel crazy. I am doing everything the nut & doc said to do. I drink my H20, I eat the correct amount of protein and I walk or bike at least 4 times a week.

The scale hasn't fluctated downward much in the last 8-10 days probably because of TOM. I need to promise myself that I am not going to weigh so much. I know it sounds nuts, but I really feel like I want to get on that scale all of the time. I love seeing the numbers go downward. I've never experienced that before like I am post op. But, then when they don't go as rapidly as they did (like magic) the first couple of weeks I get very unhappy about it. I start comparing myself to others and being dissatisfied with my own success.

I hope more than anything else upon this jouney to learn how to listen to my body, my stomach and my soul then to be satisfied with it. I have lost weight before and still felt like it wasn't good enough. Look where that got me, right back at 343 lbs.

It's not about the # on the scale or the size of the clothes (although there are certainly some wonderful wows to come within that trip). It's about being healthy, enjoying the things in life that are important, it's about having an excellent quality of life free to really participate in it without fear that my weight will stop me.

I am working on all of the steps that I am being taught to use and I am doing a good job at them. It's time that I accept that as being enough. I am doing the best I can. The scale doesn't truly measure my success.

Thanks for reading my affirmation to myself.

Amy

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

One physical therapy I suggest to you. Have someone in your family hide the scale, and bring it out only once a week.
As a matter of fact, I know that some post ops throw out their scale, and only get weighed at their drs visit.

Hang in there, you're doing very well, and since you're sticking to the program, the results will come to you, though in its own time and way.

yeah i know its hard, but its tougher to look at it and watch it waver during the day. can you cut back in steps. maybe JUST weigh in them morning, then cut back to once every coupld of days then once a week etc. believe me i know its tough. i would weigh myself everytimei had a bite to eat or something to drink. it drives you INSANE after a while.

the rest will come off. just enjoy the inches inbetween

I loved this letter to your self. I had tears in my eyes because I can totally relate to you. I just bought a beautiful glass scale that measures to the ounce. So I am not 291, I am 291.6. WTH - is that 291 or 292 then? LOL

All good suggestions from the others. Do what works best for you and remember, keep up all your good work!

work on riding the scale addiction it will make you nuts!!!!!
I know for me i didnt go on multiple times a day but daily.
AND i had to work on doing weekly weigh ins.
SET the good scale habit now so when weight loss slows
down your already in the habit.
AT times wehn my weight loss wasnt big enough in a day it messed
up my mood for the entire day!
hugs

Hi. I just wanted to say I can empathize with the scales and weighing constantly. My doc told me to stop doing it. EASIER said than done. He however did tell me to notice the clothes size because if the scale said one thing, my clothes were showing something different because I was losing fat and not muscle. I still struggle with this daily. It's the plateus that kill me mentally and I know I shouldn't be concerned but I am a little devil and I just can't help it.
