| A Moment of clarity
ok its no secret my life is a bit hectic right now. and yes i attempted to lose control this afternoon by trying to burry myself in a piece of cake. i was sitting at a starbuck's with my daughter. I bought us some cake (marble loaf) anyhow, i ripped the top off to scarf it down. yes i was stressed, yes i thought about it, and yes i was going to swallow it whole. but i thought, "gee i wonder what you happen if i took a minute, took a SMALL bite, and just chewed it really well for a long time." as i was doing that, i realized two things, if you REALLY chew, I mean really well and really slowly, you can taste every ingredient in what you are eating. you may also realize you dont actually like the taste of what you are eating. cake is kinda gross actually. the texture. the oil. eeeesh. it was a buttery kind of oily thing going on. YUCK. i know it sounds wierd, BUT i chewed and paid attention, and ended up spitting it in a napkin.
i guess what made me fat to begin with was not taking the time. i mean yeah i binged pre-op and had other emotional issues besides, but i used to INHALE food. literally. now that i have to eat slow, i am realizing with each day that passes, i dont even like the stuff i was eating. i ate it because it was there...i never took the time to actually taste it.

Good head job, Kenyar, way to go!!
You'll be sure to lose what you want to, and be able to maintain it, too, even though it doesn't happen yesterday.

Good for you Kenya. I would call this a wow moment. I think its so true what you said. So many of us were the same way. Eat quickly and take advantage of it. Now we have to stop and think and use our tool. Good for you.

Yeah, that Kenya is a pretty special girl!!!! She really makes you THINK!!! I mean, I'm sure most of us have the same feelings or emotions at some point, but she really has a way of putting it into words. I just LOVE her!!!! Oh, and I love everyone else too Just that Kenya REALLY makes me THINK! Which is a GOOD thing!!

That is awesome to hear! Good job on spitting it out and most of all not inhaleing it and actually chewing it so you didnt get sick For a minute i thought you were going to say you ate it all and didnt chew and i was imagining the next sentence was going to be you threw up all over. but the smart lady you are you just chewed it and ate it well and ended up not liking it at all that is a great accomplishmnt!

Isn't funny how we look at things now? I mean, I'm the same way Kenya....I adored sweets...and swallowed them whole..never looked back.
That's awesome encouragement to all of us.....I bet I think about this next time I attempt to stray!

Kenya, How do you get into my head that way??? We have some kinda connection accross these states between us girl!!! I have thought these very same things, and at a bridal shower last weekend, I would have sucked down at least two pieces of cake and took some home "for the guys" but not really for them, for me. I had a slice of watermelon instead, which my surgeon says is a no no, but figured it was better than cake, and as I watched everyone else eating the cake, I thought, they don't need it either, how sad, even the thinner ones don't need it, its junk!!
