Have you thought about making your own broth? Or, at this point having your husband make it? It is quite easy and very nutritious for you. You can control the sodium content it in that way.
Here is a recipe if you are interested...
1.5 lbs oxtails
1.5 lbs shank bones
3 or 4 stalks of celery
3 or 4 carrots
1 or 2 onions
about a gallon of water
handful of fresh parsley
Put the bones and oxtails (throw some sea salt on them too) in the oven until they are browned nicely, then place them in a big pot. Add your carrots, celery and onions. ( I just wash the carrots and celery and snap them in thirds and cut the onions in fourths.) Add about a gallon of water... that is a guesstimate because it will need to cook for about 24 hours. Bring the pot to a boil and skim the foam off the top. Turn it down to a simmer and let it cook for about 24 hours. About the last hour of cooking, throw in the fresh parsley.
After you are finished cooking your broth, strain it and let it cool completely. Skim off the fat off the top. I would freeze it in small portions and when you warm it up, add some sea salt as needed.
It really isn't a lot of work to make this and you know what you are putting in it instead of buying some commercially made broth. You can get the bones from a butcher or the meat department of the grocery store. You also can do chicken when you are ready by using whole chickens. Free range chickens are better because they have gelatin in their bones (from what I have read) You can use the chicken meat for other recipes.
Hope this helps. Sorry about the book
