Default Great talk with Dad

Hi all,
This might sound like bragging, but I just had to share this. I'm still feeling real good about t his. My dad is very cut and dry about dieting, never hitting over his weight, and when he does, he drops out of his diet what he knows is bad, and he drops the weight. Pretty disgusting, so I didn't know what his reaction to this surgery would be. My mom, who is my best friend, has been in on it from the beginning and incredibly supportive. She's not as overweight, but trying to lose some weight, so we're doing it together, I've been giving her hints that I've learned from my dietician etc. Anyway, I asked her not to say anything to him, but as my surgery date nears (Nov. 20) she's thinking more about it and worried and finding it more difficult to keep it from him so I told her I'd call him and tell him all about it. My house is clear everyone's gone (yeah) and butterflies in my stomach I made the call. He lives in the Twin Cities and I'm in Central MN (about 80 miles). Anyway, I explained the whole thing, when I started the procedure, the weight I've lost so far which he knew, and the appts with the dietician and psychologist, etc. He was impressed that I'd done this much research and prep. He then said, that I can add him to my support crew. I'm tearing up just writing about it. I did not expect such 100% support. He even said he was proud of me. I'm just feeling so good about this phone call. I would've had it (the surgery) regardless of his opinion and was prepared to tell him that, but I didn't have to, it never came up. I had my guns loaded and didn't need it. I feel sooo good about that phone call. Just had to share it with everyone. He even said that they might come to see me in the hospital. I was glad I was sitting down. LOL
Thanks for all your support everyone. I've really looked forward to nightly visiting and seeing what's going on.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Everyone, thanks for the kind words. And PooPoo I didn't mean to make you feel bad or sad, that's why I did hesitate to post this in case it made someone feel bad like that. Sorrya bout that. Hope you're feeling better.

It is amazing how much emotional support means to us. Even though we try to prepare for any negative reaction, the positive (and especially unexpected positive) reactions are always appreciated. I was thankful my mom was supportive coz I expected her to not be too gung ho, but lo and behold, she had read up on it and was in my corner when the time came.

Isn't that the truth! If I could do this without telling anyone, I would have tried - but that isn't possible. But after talking with the people I needed most for support whom I thought would be the least supportive, I found I really misjudged them.

My whole week has been like that. And it feels really good to have been wrong about so many people.

I'm so glad your dad is supportive of this. It is so easy to say we don't need someone's support, and we probably don't, oh, but when we have it, there is no feeling like it in the world.

I am so happy for you.

Wow that is such a nice story. It is so important to have support and it makes such a difference in our attitude both going into surgery and recovery. I am so happy for you. YOu are very lucky to have your dad.
