Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Is it just me or a phase I'm in? This Tuesday will be my 6 week post op date. The first several weeks I didn't want any food. I didn't have a taste for anything and no desire to even eat. Now the feeling is coming back. I have done well, but I feel right now it's will power not surgery, that's allowing me to stay focused. I lost 32 pounds and just gained 2 back. Scientifcally speaking, I don't know how in this world I could have even gained 2. I haven't had enough calories to even make that possible. I don't graze all day, I eat healthy and the scale is going up not down. Sometimes I can only eat a couple bites and I want to make myself puke I'm in so much pain. Then, on other occasions I can eat like I used to but stop myself on my own, afraid that I will hurt later. For instance today, I ate a cup of clam chowder soup and 1/2 chicken salad wrap. I probably could have eaten more of the wrap and a bowl of soup rather than a cup, but I told myself to stop. Doesn't that seem like a lot for 5+ weeks post up? On the other hand, as I mentioned 3 bites will make me full during another meal. My husband thinks I'm nuts. I think I am too. I should be grateful that I've lost 30 so far. But, I'm not. I'm disappointed that I feel like I can eat more after having such a major surgery performed on me. what is up with me?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | i think you are doing fine. just be careful with mixing soups and solids. you can slide more past so to speak when you mix in liquids at the same time. 6-8 weeks is about where most of us began to bounce or stall out completely. not to discourage you but, you're right on track |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I'm surprised you're eating that type of food that early out, especially the wrap. All docs are different as are their eating plans but I was still on pureed food at this point. Measuring is a really good idea to keep things in check, and I also will fill up early on some things and later on others. It takes a while to get the hang of things, so keep your spirits up! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I agreee that soups are a little tricky, even though it was clam chowder, it moves through the pouch much easier. I notice that there are some things I can eat more of and others fill me up faster, I also started my first stall around this time, hang in there, I say this cause there are more stalls to come, I am on my second big stall currently.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | You Shouldnt Be Eating Solid Foods And Having Soup Hun Thats Like Eating And Drink Which Will Make You Hungry Quicker. Also Remember You Will Get Hungry As Time Goes On. You Shouldnt Deprive Yourself Because As Time Goes On You Have To Take In More Calories In Order To Lose The Pounds. I Learned That And Im Now Losing Very Steadily. Also The Wt Gain Is Probably Just You Retaining Water Dont Worry Hun |

| Super Moderator | Okay, you had sleeve--vertical gastroplasty, right? Check out and confirm what the eating rules are for sleeve, it may be different from RNY because you don't have a pouch. However, it is a good idea to separate your liquids and solid food, even with sleeve, as liquids will push the food faster out of of your stomach, whether it be a pouch or a tube. Another complication that happens more often than RNY with VG is acid reflux. so symptoms from that may be making you eat more as having the food in your tube will prevent the acid from coming back up. If you aren't on antiacid meds already, you may need to go on one. On other thing, is your TOM coming up? That can mess up your appetite, and also mess up your weight loss by retaining water and making you gain. ((((((HUGS))))))

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I did the whole lose some, go back up a few, go down go up again rollercoaster ride until I had the hystero and then it was all downhill after that. Hormonally it was all tied into my periods which started lasting for 2 weeks at a time and we were horribly heavy. at 6 weeks out 30 lbs is a GREAT loss! Definitely do what the doc said and get more information on YOUR surgery diet requirements. The sleeve gastro is different for sure.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I finally added my avatar. I don't have any full body shots. I hated to have my picture taken so this was me using my laptop webcam. My face really never carried the weight, it's all between the knees and breasts. Like a turkey, round and plump in the center. I had the roux en y, not the sleeve, whatever that is. I do drink my protein shakes every morning and yes, I drink lots of water. Water is now, like an extention of my hand. It's with me wherever I go. I technically still am on pureed foods. The wrap was chicken salad which was super soft. I just sort of chewed the heck out of it before I swallowed it. I know that soup is a liquid and it can move faster through us. I guess since it was a chowder I thought it would be different. I thought it would fill me more. I was at a restaurant when I ate. My girlfriends and I took our girls out for a xmas show then to lunch. Going to a restaurant is still a learning experience for me. I should have just got the bowl of soup rather than the cup of soup and sandwich. I was just surprised how much I was able to hold down, it freaked me out. Then, I came home and wrote you guys right away. I DO NOT LIKE STALLS. By the way. I have never heard the expression TOM before. It took me a handful of threads to figure out what you ladies were referring to. LOL. Thanks for the support. It's nice to be here.

| Super Moderator | Oops, sorry I keep mixing you and POODLEGIRL up. ![]() Soup is considered liquid whatever the kind. Also, be careful of your salt intake, sometimes, that can get by you and get high, because you are watching other things. Salt will make you retain water, too, so that may make you gain weight temporarily. Even if you have little ups and downs, you will go down as a total, so don't fret on the little bumps. So long as you stick to your surgeon's plan, you'll get where your body needs to be. ((((((HUGS)))))) P.S. Beautful avatar, thanks for putting it up.
