(I am so hoping i haven't put this one here yet. if i have i'm sorry, gotta go through all of the posts tomorrow and write the names of all of what i gave you so i don't repeat them)

I was born here
yet still i live in fear,
my parents came from another land,
so from certain places i am banned.

I am a woman,
just because i'm not a man,
i find i have to fight
for every little right.

I'm elderly and want to live on my own
but somehow my children sold my home,
so now i live where they decide,
i feel as if i have already died.

I'm a victim because of the color of my skin
i'm a victim because i'm a her not a him
I'm a victim because i'm elderly,
why are things so different for you than for me?

Why do you say i do not belong?
why do you say i can not be strong?
why do you say i can not understand?
whey will no one take a stand?

Are we not all human at heart?
why doesn't anyone know where to start?
what does it matter my race, gender age?
what right do you have to keep me in a cage?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I think everyone can relate to something in this.
Sometimes it gets us into trouble, but other times, it gives us the strength to reach out and support others.
Truly a good one, freebird!

Okay, so I can understand what you are trying to get at here with the poem but I would just like to point out that White males don't always have the advantage that they are assumed to have. I know for a fact that if my husband wants to be promoted early he has to work a ton harder than a female up for the same promotion in order to get it due to reverse discrimination. I do believe in people acheiving equality, but I think that sometimes it goes way overboard and only makes it so that a different group is on unequal ground. Sorry just an observation that I have had since being married and seeing my husband being turned down for things time and again not because he wasn't qualified but because he was not a minority. We have to be careful in the term victim, because by classifying yourself a victim, you are more likely to be preyed on. Again just my opinion, but I felt it needed to be brought up.

your getting there cabbie

ok pillows you are right. my brother has been turned down from jobs on 5 or 6 occasions because he is not a minority. ok point taken and totally agreed with. i guess i should have told y'all that this was actually a poem i wrote in school on stereotyping, so that's why i used the examples i did. I really didn't mean to offend anyone and i'm sorry if i did

You didn't offend me and I hope that no offense was taken in return. I guess that I just feel badly sometimes when I am greeted with reverse discrimination here and people assume that I or my husband have it so easy. Yes I will acknowledge that we are blessed in many aspects of life, but I believe that anyone regardless of race, age or other such stereotype has their own cross to bear. I don't believe that anybody is without struggles or hills they have to climb. I think that as I am starting to loose the weight I am starting to realize how much I alienated myself from having skinny friends rather than them judging me like I thought they were. I am gaining a lot of perspective as my size changes and some of my defensive walls are coming down. Granted there are always going to be some jerks out there that are just waiting to put someone else down, but I think that if we get into the victim role too quickly, it diminishes our own power to help others and get in the way more than those people putting us down. I don't know if this makes any sense and it is most likely a lot of hormones talking, but those have been some of my scrambled thoughts lately....lol. Heaven help me I am looney right now.....lol No offense taken here and I hope that none was given on my part. Ya know I love ya right?

none taken. it's hard to offend me really. especially when it comes to my poetry i love feedback good or bad about my writting, and you are right in what you said.

have you ever been discriminated against because of your size? I know of 2 jobs that i applied for that i was turned down from because i was to big. The interviewer didn't say it at the time but on both occaions i knew somebody who worked where i applied and heard the comments after i left.
