Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Would any of you travel South of the Border to have plastic surgery done in Mexico if your insurance would not cover it? I am contemplating having my lower body lift and arms done in Mexico since my insurance won't cover it and it's about 1/3 the cost of the US. Shelley

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I guess my biggest reason for leaning on the negative side on this topic is its painful surgery and can come with complications during recovery infections, pain and i guess i feel i wouldnt be able to keep returning to the doctor that did the surgery for follow up care for his surgery. SO that alarms me. IT would be awfully costly to go back to mexico for stitches and staples to come out and what if i had gotten an infection. its a tough call but im not thinking of such surgery so i guess you cant go by me any at all.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Well honey I can tell you don't muck with that at all!! I did a lipo suction for my thighs and hips back in 1997, and the surgeon was so enthusiastic and he did the upper part of my behind, and it went partially wrong!!! he sucked more than what it should be! I'm hoping that it will not show up when I loose my excess weight!! SO if I were you. I'd do more reasearch on Doc's and just don't do it when you're depressed as a relieve and later on you regret it. Be careful, I understand the need. I would do the plastic surgery in a heart beat once I'm on my target weight but I won't put my body in unsafe hands.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I don't think I would but I did recently read a special on this in my people magazine and there are some people who swear by getting surgery done abroad. Really research it no matter what you choose. And be safe!! You are to special to have anything bad happen to you!!! |

Height: | I think I agree that although tempting...this would be something that would make me very nervous to do... That having been said...it would be fun to recover on some sunny Mexican beach...lol. Janae |

| Whipper Snapper | You are asking for a lot of potential problems by trying to do something as complex as this long distance. Complication rates from post-bariatric plastic surgery procedures are very high as compared to ones on non massive weight loss patients. You will have difficulty finding someone to take care of your complications locally in many instances if you listen to other patients' stories. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Actually I have decided to do it here in the US partially because of that and I got a quote from there and it actually more expensive than here.
