| Whipper Snapper | Hey all- I had my consult on 9/5. The dr was really nice and said he would be able to do something for me under my insurance. It might be a bit of a fight, but I can do that! Question for Dr. - he said under my insurance he would be able to remove the excess skin at my abdomen under my belly button and go all the way to my hip flanks. Everything would be strictly reconstructive, not cosmetic in anyway. I think the procedure he is referring to is a panniculectomy (sp?). That does NOT include nay liposuction or liposculpturem correct? And it does not tighten any muscles, it merely removes skin, right? Do you have a ballpark idea of what the price difference would be between the procedure he is recommending and making a more "aethetically pleasing" look, i.e., cosmetic. I may be getting a somewhat nice chunk of money and would consider paying the difference. He also said he'd put in to get the girls lifted up, but that would be a real fight. I don't want implants....I'm happy with the size of the girls. I just want them back where they started and not pointing to the floor! He mentioned rather under his breath that there are other medical groups associated with my insurance that are far easier to work with. If I don;t get anywhere with my group now, I may change groups just for this procedure and then switch back when it's all over -- I really love my regular PCP, but if I have to change for a few months to ge this done I will. Thank you!!!! |

A panniculectomy would not include any of those other features. The additional fee will vary with the surgeon. I would expect it to be another $3-6K for the fee depending upon the surgeon, your body size, and your location (some areas fee tend to be higher) Most post bariatric breast cases do not meet the criteria for insurance coverage. It's usually (but not always) more of a problem of loose, saggy skin rather then an excess of tissue. This can be corrected with either an lift + implants or a lift alone depending upon your volume of tissue and expectations. | |
