Hey Folks;

Plastic Surgery... All of us probably need it after this massive weight loss. I mean, I was 5'2 & 278 lbs. My goal weight is 136. Can you imagine what I'll look like naked?!? A deflated balloon?

It seems like mostly everyone talks about plastic surgery as if it's "taken for granted" and just gonna... ...happen, somehow.

I can't be the only one out here who struggles to maintain a "middle class" lifestyle, going from month to month praying my car won't breakdown and nothing will happen to disrupt my very rigid monthly budget. My credit is pretty well shot from a nasty divorce 10 years ago.

I have Medicare from a disability--but no Medicaid to back it up as my income is "too high". [At less than $1200 a month!!!] Anyway...

HOW do people just "decide" to get plastic surgery done? I wonder how it would ever even be an option for me!!! How does that work out? Do you get a $15000 bank loan or something? I am really just wondering HOW other people who are not wealthy finance this piece of their health care!!!

HELP!

XOXO
Mya

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Well some people get it covered...if there is enough skin irritation issues medically documented i hear their can be a chance for coverage.

SOME have hernias and need that repaired and can usually get it covered being there going to be in the ER anyway for that.

and yes some do self pay. AND feel takeing out a loan to pay is worth it .
BEING their body is a car they will drive for life. TODAY most cars cost more then that so people feel there body is worth it.

I hope i have helped im sure others will give their experience
and what they have heard on the topic or experienced.
ALL the best.

I am TOTALLY sure it would be worth the cost of the loan. I'm just saying, if you don't have enough to pay your monthly bills and your average "new" car is a "1999 something or other"... ...how do you maneuver the whole situation?

And that I hoped there were others in similar financial straights who had negotiated these waters!!!

Thank you so much for your kind and thorough reply!!!

XOXO
Mya

Well MYA...
i know i dont have the extra to do that either so dont feel bad.

THEN my suggestion is to start documenting early on rashes and
irriatations and fungus infections bothering under the nooks
and crannies. I have heard some go as far as leaving nair on
the under tummy apron for 20 mintues to make it very red and
irritated looking. THEN doctors give creams. AFTer having all this
documented i hear they cover it.
I cant say i have done this...but I heard it works and they will
approve you...after attempts for the irriations failed with creams.
NOT sure if this helps you.
hugs

Hey Mya I've been wondering the same thing on how to pay for that tummy tuck and boob lift I'm going to need. I hope it works out for you. I know we don't have that kind of cash sitting around waiting for me to spend on a new tummy!!

Have you checked with your teaching hospitals? Some have specials where the residents do the surgery and it's much cheaper. I know here, we have a resident clinic and the cost is much cheaper. And to tell you, there isn't much difference in the care. The residents do the surgery under close supervision of the surgeon. The surgeon is in the room the whole time and guiding them all the way.

Also, I don't know if you get a tax return, but that may be another way to save. Use a tax return or have an extra $30-50 taken out each payday. That is another way to save up.

I know it's hard when you are on a tight budget. Those are some suggestions I have.

Good luck.

I havent had my surgery yet but I already know I am gonna need a tummy tuck and boob lift. We are planning on saving our tax return and then saving a little extra per payday til I lose all the weight and maintain for awhile. Hopefully that will help.

Default This is one reason:

I chose to do the non op gastric bypass. I am pretending and I will lose the weight a bit slower, but will lose. I will be able to exercise and the majority of my skin should bounce back. My cousin weighed 300+ at her surgery and she has about 15 pounds of lose skin or so....with her clothes on or when she sits down, you can't tell it all. Her skin mostly bounced right back to place.

I since I am going about this the non op way, I will not mess with plastic surgery, unless it is to get that size D clevage my hubby keeps talking about. Ha, ha.

Hey, I have packed around this extra skin and weight for years, having only a little skin flapping around will not bother me at all.....

I have wondered the same thing. I am a single mother of two and I know I can not afford any out of pocket expense for plastic surgery. I am pretty active even for my size and I have started working out so I hope I won't be too flabby.

I don't know if you watch the biggest loser but those folks who win loose huge amounts of weight this years winner lost over 200 and they weighed on national tv wearing speedos and I did not see huge amounts of excess skin so I will keep my fingers crossed that I won't look too hideous.
