Got my date for my plastic surgery today, it's all go for the 15th May!!!!! Very excited and nervous as the only time I've ever spent in hospital was to give birth so I really have no idea what to expect. I'm sure you all have some advice and tips so please share with this surgery virgin! I'm having arm surgery and a tummy tuck to remove the excess skin left from the weight loss.

Congratulations, Heidi! Okay, I'll tell you this, I have been told by Craig that the TT was more uncomfortable than the actual WLS, since the incision goes all around, and one tries to get everything done at once. A few days until the pain and inflammation subsides, I believe. However, I know the comfort that comes after the discomfort is all worth it, so I hope you can bear up to the few days that you have to be patient. Good luck, ((((((HUGS)))))

Heidi great that you've gotten the date already. I too have heard that there is a bit of pain and uncomfortableness from the tt but if you can bare a day or two of this discomfort i've been told that it is worth it. I myself am a big baby when it comes to pain so i'm hoping you will tell me after yours what to expect pain wise. Hopefully it's not too unbarebale. good luck. I think it was Doc who told me a person can lose up to 20 lbs with a tummy tuck. good luck

Thankyou everyone for your best wishes. No I havent used insurance to help pay for it, health insurance in New Zealand is not really the norm as we have a free health system. If I had private health insurance it might have covered some of the hospital fees but not the surgeons fees, and would have had to have had it before I lost the weight because if I got it now it wouldnt cover any preexisting conditions. Its going to cost a total of $20 000 NZ dollars, which while a lot of money, I've decided isnt as much as I'd spend on a new vehicle, and I drive my body 24 hours a day 7 days a week! Plus I havent come all this way to feel more uncomfortable in my skin! I'll keep everyone posted, I cant wait to be wearing sleeveless tops and not having to tuck my tummy into nana knickers and tights! |

It is so funny that you bring up the new vehicle thing. My husband and I were discussing the cost of plastic surgery and I told him would you rather drive a beamer in bed and a pinto on the street or a pinto in bed and a beamer in the street? I am so excited for you and nervous too. I hope that the pain isn't too bad, but from what I have heard it is well worth it. Good luck. Janae |
