Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | YOU get a consult from a PS and see. USUALLY if you have issues from the extra skin there is some chance it might get covered. OF course nothing is a quarantee but consult with a PS....!!!! GOOD LUCK

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | yeah i think you need to get the surgeon involved and have the submit something for approval and then you find out. OR you could call ahead and see what their criteria is...BUT i wouldnt recommend that anyway because that changes over time. and from what i understand you have to be stabilzed in your weight in order to have it, what a year? by then you might have toned all the loose skin up LOL! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Its gonna depend on your insurance policy itself. They do build in a clause to them for plastics. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | It depends, some insurance companies you can call them and they will tell what they require, others won't. The insurance company that I had at the time of my lower body lift told me that if they covered the gastric bypass and it was the cause of the excess skin that they would cover the plastics. My plastic surgeon did not want to submit the lower body lift, he only wanted to submit the tummy tuck, because he was sure that was all they would cover and he thought it was a waste of time submitting it. I told him that I wanted to try, worst case scenario they would say no and we would resubmit for just the tummy tuck. They said yes. They paid 100%! My surgeon told me that to this day I am the only lower body lift that has ever been covered by insurance, but sometimes I think the problem is that the surgeons don't want to ask/submit it. For me it would be really important to find a doctor/his staff that are willing to go to bat for you and fight for your plastics to be covered. Plastic surgery in general is a self pay business, and a lot of them don't want to have to deal with the insurance companies, they can be real pain in the butts. My arms and breasts would have been covered too, my doctors office got a verbal approval from my insurance company, but they needed to have the pictures in order to get the written approval, my doctors office dropped the ball and my insurance changed and my new insurance company has a written exclusion, they only cover plastic surgery if you are disfigured in a car accident/fire/ or cancer. I have been denied 3 times. My doctor has been really great about it and has offered to do the surgeries for the cost of anesthesia, since it was his office staff that dropped the ball. But since then I have found that I have a genetic blood disorder (after 14 blood transfusion and 4 different stays in ICU) and I am really scared to have any more surgeries right now. Wow, I did not mean to write a book, sorry! I hope this helps!
