Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I haven't even had my surgery yet but I have a stupid question. The excess skin, is there a way to tone that up, excercise and get rid of it or are the only options plastic surgery. I read on one of these that some insurances do cover it, does any one have Health Partners in MN and how are they with this? A lot of you who've lost a lot, judging by your before and after pics, you seemed very toned, how do you do it? Are there certain exercises you can do during the weight loss period to help that? Just wondering. Thanks. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | haha! this is the seven million dollar question lol! i havent toned anything. im waiting to hit goal to hit the weights at the gym to be honest. im not sure what others have done but i really dont want to go under the knife again. my insurance does/will cover it provided i have documentation of rashes and such, which i do, but im just not sure PS is for me. so i plan to try to work out and see where that gets me. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I can't wait to have a tummy tuck!! Even when I was thin I always had a "pooch". Can't wait to have a flat tummy for the first time in my life!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Kenya is right...everyone is different. If you don't have the money for surgery, you find creative clothing to hide some of the skin. I've heard/read insurance will cover tummy tucks, provided you have documented skin infections. Keep in mind too, everyone has different degrees of elasticity. I think I heard that the less pigment you have, the more elastic you are (the better the chance of that skin "bouncing" back) I may have this backwards...I'm sure Doc can clarify. Also, if the skin has stretched (due to child birth of just with weight gain), that skin is NOT going back where it came from. I was hoping I could pull this off with just a tummy tuck; HOWEVER, I now want my arms done and a possible breast lift. I'm 42 years old and way too young to have my boobs hanging down around my waist!!! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | It is completely obvious that my extra arm skin is not going to go back to normal. I have already decided if insurance does not cover an upper arm tuck, I will save up for one. I really want to be comfortable in short sleeves and I really want to wear tank tops again to show off my tattoos. I already and did have rashes on my stomache and under my breasts so hope insurance might cover those?!?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I totally get where you guys are coming from but when I had this surgery I had major issues with healing and the sutures they used so I'm sorta concerned about having Frankenstein-like incision lines. It took like 8 weeks to heal these little lap scars! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | would the incisions for the arm tuck be noticable? |
| | |
| | #9 (permalink) |
| Super Moderator | Not much. At least after a while. The incisions are on the inner side of the arm, so unless you raise your arm up, you can't see it. I've seen CraigT's scars and you really can't tell unless you look closely, and know where to look.
