Default sometimes think my body looks worse

Everyone tells me how great I look but they don't see me naked. My body looks like an empty bag. I can't wear sleaveless shits or shorts above the knee. I love the weight loss but my skin is still hanging no matter how much I exercise.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

some skin has less elasticity and will never go back, no matter how much you exercise....I wear shorts...and sleeveless shirts...I don't care who sees what? I do wish I could fix it now, but financially, it's not doable....

Remember your health and how much better off you are, regardless of the excess skin....I have contemplated having no additional surgery at all....it's a personal choice....but we each know what we can live with....

Take care of you and be proud of your weight loss...you have done yourself proud!

Are your expectations reasonable? We all want to look like the models in the magazines but those are 18-20 years old and airbrushed! No one loses weight for looks. The looks thing is nice. But it's for health and the way you feel. When you walk around, doesn't it feel so much better to be lighter? etc etc.

Since everyone is saying you are looking good, that should say to you that YOU ARE LOOKING good. How many people really look good naked without an airbrush job? If everyone did, models wouldn't be paid big bucks. We do walk around in clothing.

I lost a bunch of weight too and even though I lost it slowly, I still have hanging skin all over. But you know, I DO wear sleeveless shirts because that's me and if folks expect me to look like a model, they need to get real.

Be proud of yourself and your accomplishments! Remember - as Dr Terry Simpson, (WLS SURGEON) says "Success in WLS is 10 percent the surgery and 90 percent the patient!"

So claim your success! You deserve it and I bet you look a WHOLE LOT better than you THINK you look.

I understand what you are feeling. I had my surgery done in June 2007 and I'm down 150lbs. Everyone says I look "wonderful" but when I stand naked in front of a mirror I see the saging skin and rolls. I have to remind myself that I am SO MUCH BETTER than where I was! I can do things I forgot where such fun. I am much more social and I FEEL BETTER! We have to give our bodies time to tone up and when we realize the skin is at it's best we need to decide if we want to have it removed or just live with it. Whatever you decide don't forget it's your choice. You are a beautiful person before the surgery, during the recovery, and will be long afterward and it is only you who you must please. Don't care what others think ... life is too precious and short to worry!

I feel the same way you do, I think we should lobby the insurance commision to make the plastic surgery a component of the wls. It is very unhealthy to have this excess hanging skin, it isn't just a "cosmetic thing", it is a health issue, they ok'd the wls they should pay for the next stage which is the cosmetics. It take time for things to become covered by insurance companies as a standard and I feel it is about time this is covered. Look how long it took them to cover reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy, not to compare the two, this is just an example. Well now I'm rambling, but I feel really strongly about this...

Hi my name is Joyce Scott. And I know how you feel about your body. I had my gastric bypass surgery done last year on Feb 14th of 2007. And I lost over 160lbs and now I have all this extra skin and I can't wear short and I have to wear short sleevs shirt, because of the hot weather in west-texas, But hopfully someday I can afford to get my excess skin tooken off. But I will never regret the surgery, I went from a diebetic type 1 to not taking alot of med's. And now I can buy clothes in wal-mart without have to buy the men's 3XL clothes. But keep up the good work girl!

i call it melted candle syndrome i have it too. just remember how much worse off you would be healthwise if the "empty bag" was still full.

i have to put a positive spin on it. though i never expected to come out of this looking like a super model, i still feel i look a hell of alot better and FEEL 1000 times better.

I still have plenty of fat at a little over 2 months out and am looking foward to the hanging skin (at least it means the fat is gone, right?).

The skin recovers very very slowly. Granted, it will not go back to *perfect fit* but, around a year out or less, is probably when the extra skin issue it at the worst. Past the 2 year mark, you may likely see some sort of difference, even if it's far from perfect. Give your body time, after all, Rome was not built in a day.
