I have my first consult tomorrow. I'm thinking I want a lower body lift and a breast lift/augmentation. Anyone have any advice on what questions I should ask the surgeon?

I am a Plastic Surgeon practicing in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina, and I have an interest in post-bariatric body-contouring procedures. My advice to you is to let the surgeon know what bothers you most, and maybe write down a list of priorities. For example, if you have a lot of extra abdominal skin that affects your activity, point that out.
Commonly, multiple procedures are done at once, though one should balance this with the risks that go along with longer surgery. For example, breast lift (with or without the use of implants) and tummy tucks (abdominoplasty) are often done at the same time. Arm lifts and thigh lifts can be done at a separate setting, or at the same time. Usually a little "fine tuning" with liposuction is helpful and recommended. Lastly, choose someone who is experienced at these procedures, as patients like yourself have special issues: skin that is less elastic, higher risk of DVT, nutritional issues related to gastric bypass, etc.
Best of luck -- I wish you success in your body contouring!

I'm planning on the tummy tuck and breast lift in one surgery...then the arms/legs in another surgery. I was told the recovery period on the 1st one is about 2 weeks...will have a drain for the first week.....you won't see ultimate results for about 12 months...as things settle into place, scarring fades and "things" calm down...
I've also heard the thigh lift can be tough, depending on where the incisions are made....and that the scar on the arms is elbow to armpit, but they put it where you can hardly see it...I'd rather have the fading scar than these wings I'm left with. Incidentally, my surgeon did NOT recommend any lipo, as I have VERY little body fat left....just a TON of leftover skin...

Scars are the bane of the Plastic Surgeon, so we think about them a lot. Basically, you're trading the excess skin (and how you look in clothes) for some partially-hidden scars.
Thigh lifts are probably the most challenging. There is a lot of tension on those scars as they heal, and its not uncommon to have some minor wound issues. Thats a good reason to do it in stages, as you are.
