| ok I am stressing
I just talked to a friend that had a tummy tuck and she said it was the worst pain of her life and that the pain was so bad she had to knock herself out with pain meds for 2 weeks. I have a pretty good situation b/c I work from home and run my own business and can sub out work as needed. I do need to be able to take phone calls...check email...etc. Can someone tell me if it is REALLY that bad. I was thinking I would be out cold for a few days...just wanting to sleep and rest. I am most likely going to shoot for a Thursday surgery....then have Friday, Sat, Sun to sleep. I was thinking by Monday I would atleast be able to check emails in bed from my laptop and answer the phone from my bed and take naps and rest. I was going to have my Grandmother whose a very active 80 year old come stay with me for a week to 10 days to help me with getting up...making meals..and cleaning the drains I will not be able to stomach looking at. Does this seem realistic or am I way off???????

Think I am getting an extended. I will possibly be getting the one that goes up the middle too and pulls in my sides and goes across my pubic area...looks like an upside down T. I am not worried about scares. I want the best results in clothes. I have so many scars from gall bladder, RNY, and stretch marks. I don't know about a pain pump. I know about the drains. I have several consults tomorrow and one that is a second consult with a doctor I have already seen....he is the only one I have seen so far for PS. I am seeing 4 or 5 docs total...all referrals from people I know that had PS and I have seen their work.

the anhor cut. i dream of it. its not pretty but it pulls the tummy in tight. i have only spoken with 2 ppl who have had tts. one had entire lower body lift, other just had tt. neither said the pain was unbearable. i think it depends on your tolerance just like with the WLS. i would LOVE to do a tt the further out i get the more i feel li need it to "complete" me. but the biggest fear for me too is the pain. moreso the pulling. i think the idea of that bothers me more.
please share what you find out.

I think that I am rushing it a bit by not being to goal or trying to get to goal before PS but....I have needed a TT and breast lift since I was a teenager. I was very over weight as a kid and lost 100lbs at 15 then had my son at 18 then prego again at 21 then gained 150lbs from age 23-28. I am 29 now and just want my body to look good for once in my life. I hate the way my pants fit. I by 14's with slim legs and so that they are not huge in my legs but then I can't wear a fitted shirt b/c I am hangin out everywhere. I stand in the mirror and move all the skin on my stomach out of the way and dream that it is gone. I feel like I don't even know what my goal should be or what it will look like or what I should look like because I have had all this nasty skin since age 16. I want to know what it feels like to put on clothes and feel good and not feel like I have to select certain styles to cover up all my flaws. I am also hoping that if I lose 10 or 15lbs after surgery that I don't ruin it all. I asked the first doc that and he said no I would be fine. I am going to ask every doctor that tomorrow. My mom lost about 15lbs after her anchor TT and she still looks good. She bounces 10lbs all the time.

Shannon- my best friend had a TT 3 years ago. She was out for a good week. (we joke she doesn't even remember that week!) She swears the best way to go is to be sure they do the pain pump, she said it helped a ton. We went on vacation when she was 6 weeks out, and she was 100%, but I would say for sure a good week before she could even function minimally. I know everyone is different- but that was her. And BTW she looks great and would do it again! She showed me her scar the other day and you can hardly see it!

Quite honestly, CraigT (the host of this site, not da prefesser, ) once said to us (Leslie and me) that the pain and discomfort from PS was much worse than WLS (he had open RNY) itself. Said, couldn't turn over without pain for a few days. Didn't say that he couldn't get around, though, so I imagine it's more about being able to be in a comfortable position or not, rather than being able to be up and doing the mimimal 'puter stuff and all that.
Now, this all was 10 years ago, so I imagine the surgeons have a few more tricks up their sleeves now.

I have also heard that the pain is pretty intense - especially the pulling.
That said - still probably worth every minute of the pain! So go in expecting it - see if you can figure out how to have 7 - 10 days with little done - by then you know you will be able to make calls and work from lap top.
Good luck!!!
