| ??? about extended tummy tuck
Ok some of you folks that have had experience with plastic surgery I was wondering what you know about an extended tummy tuck. Have any or you had it? What is the difference in it and a regular tummy tuck?

Not sure what an extended tummy tuck is????? I had just a regular tummy tuck.
Maybe an extended tummy tuck would be a lower body lift?

I think she's meaning a TT versus the full abdominoplasty...You'll definitely like the results much better from the full deal which can all so pull some of the upper thigh wrinkling, the back and lifts the mons too.
That link is a good one ! check it out for sure

Kinda sounds like a lower body lift dont it. From what I have read it takes the sides off to like the love handles versus the tummy? Good question. I will look around on this myself. I need somthin done but I wont do it. Im soooo chicken.

I had a TT in April. Mine turned out to be basically a pani removal (not what I thought I was getting but that's what the surgeon decided was best for me once I was under GRRRRR).
Anyway, here's what I know about the different abdominal surgeries:
Panni (sometimes call a mini-tummy tuck) they only remove the skin hanging below the belly button. THe cut is from the inside edges of the hip bones and just above the pubic hair.
Tummy tuck: the cut is in the same location as the panni, but they loosen the skin all the way to the breast bone and pull it all down. They may have to cut a circle around the belly button, pull it down, and make a new hole and pull the belly button through. They will also tighten (sew together any gaps) the muscles. The drawback is that the tighter skin will not conform to your rib cage and sink in as much, so you lose some of the ribs and muscle definition and the hourglass shape. It can widen your waist. Sometimes this includes a mons lift where the pubic skin is pulled up.
Anchor tummy tuck: in addition to the above, they will make a vertical cut from the pubic to the breast bone. THis lets them pull the sides in towards the midline and gives you a much smaller waist. The trade off - you won't want to wear a bikini.
Extended tummy tuck: either with or without the vertical incision - the pubic cut goes beyond the hip bone to your sides, sometimes even partway around the back. This lets them take care of the crease that occurs just below the bra line on the back lower rib cage. It may also give a slight lift to the outer thighs.
Lower body lift: includes the extended tummy tuck but goes all the way around your back. The back incision goes across the top of your buttocks, usually dips into a V shape at the top of the crack. Will help with saggy buttocks and a slight lift to the upper thighs. Will not fix the area between the butt and the back of the knees.

Dixie you will be in my thoughts and prayers. I do not know what to call mine except for tummy tuck. The way the tummy tuck was described above sounds like what I got. Another words mine was lifted and all my muscles tightened and they made a new belly button for me and I just love my new belly button compared to my old one. My incision was from the back side of my hip to the other side of the back of my hip. To describe it better, is when I lay on a flat surface, he cut me from where I hit the bed to the other side of the bed of my side. Hope that makes sense. He sat me half ways up before he put in the skin stitches. That is what he explained what he did to me. I was hunched over for over a week before I could stand up pretty straight. I still cannot sleep straight in bed, I have the adjustable bed, up in my head and up by my feet. I pretty much sleep in a v shape. It hurts to much to sleep straight. When I had my belly button stitches taken out they had me lay on a flat bed, well I put my feet on the bed upright so that my skin was not stretched straight. It was to painfull to lay flat on a bed. I went on internet and looked up a tummy tuck video. I found two of them that showed pretty much what he did to me. Some people told me how can I look at them and I said at least I know what he did to me. One viteo was almost exact what he did to me. I thought it was interesting and does not leave me wondering what he did to me. The incision is not what hurt on me at all is is the muscles that he tightened up on me that hurt so much. Yes they are painfull, but so worth it. I love how flat I look now and it is getting better right along. Hubby has been so wonderful in helping me almost 4 weeks. Dixie you will do great, I was so scared like you are now, but once I got to the office I was much better, I think it is the anticapation that a person is so scared of. And also of the pain, I was more scared of the pain more than anything. With all the pain pills it was not to bad. Eat prunes or prune juice after surgery so you done't get backed up, that is what happened to me on the third day and I had horrible gas pains. That was the worst part of the whole surgery is the gas pains. So make sure you have some fiber, or prunes and prune juice to make bowels work again. Good luck and I am so excited for you and I know you will love the end results. It will be so worth it.
