I'm a ways off but know I'm going to want an extended tummy tuck and a boob job.
Can I get your input on what you all have received for cost? A previous post indicated $65K for a full body lift and I almost fainted.
Thanks Everyone!

oh yeah it's quite costly and sometimes all out of pocket as some insurances will ONLY do skin removal which is not what you just described.
I know of 3 women in Kansas City when I had my surgery done (nearly 8yrs ago) that REFINANCED their homes to pay for full body lifts.

I have no idea. I dont want any of it but more than likey will have to have the skin taken of the stomach area to which the insurance will pay for. Not a Tummy Tuck but a Paniulectomy. AKA skin removal nothing more.

| Most PS do free consults, I suggest you make a few appts and check your ins benes. It can be a long process if you want ins to pay for it, but if you are have medical issues, rashes, pain, back or neck issues, etc you will need to document your problems with your docs well.

65k is way high for a body lift. Prices are generally more like 20-30k for a body lift. I paid just under 10k for breast augmentation and tummy tuck. Like Clancy said, most of them will do free consultation so just make a few appointments. Obesity Help has a plastic surgery section that's somewhat helpful and a lot of surgeons will post their prices on their web sites.

hmmmm....interesting. I wonder what the difference is between a tummy tuck and skin removal. Won't it kind of be the same?

Skin removal is just that, they only take off the excess skin. A tummy tuck involves pulling the muscles tighter to provide a flatter stomach. As we gained weight those muscles stretched out as well.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. The skin removal process, called a panni-something, just removes the loose skin hanging down. THey don't do any contouring or pulling down the upper skin or moving the belly button. The tummy tuck usually involves pulling the upper skin down (mine didn't grrr, they were supposed to but didn't). They tunnel under the skin and loosen it from the muscle and pull it down as much as they can. They usually have to make a new hole for the belly button, and they'll sew closed any gaps in the muscle before they close you up.
The standard TT goes from just inside the hipbone, down to the top of the pubic hair, and over to the other hipbone. The extended TT will go beyond the hip bones to somewhere on the sides or even partly around towards your back.
A body lift goes all the way around, lifting the skin on your buttocks and pulling down the back skin somewhat. Not all plastic surgeons will do a body lift in one session because it takes such a long time and they have to flip you over. THey mosly like to either work on the front or the back but not both. They also won't do the arms and belly at the same time because you'll basically not be able to get yourself out of a chair. You can't use your belly muscles to stand up so you push up with your arms - can't do that if you've had your arms done too.
