| Very discouraged and disappointed about what the Dr. said.
I am 28 and had Gastric Bypass on Feb. 17, 2009. I've lost 135 pounds so far. But I have curves and fat that I really hate!!! The Plastic Surgeon (Dr. Kang in Erie, PA) said that my weight is still high for my height & I need to lose some more. I am currently 241 and I am 5' 2". Very discouraged and disappointed about what the Dr. said. He also said that insurance will NOT cover removed of my "fat" due to my back pains since April 2010. He said if I had rashes that were documented for 6 months by my primary physician, they might. But I don't have that problem really, so I am just screwed.

I'm so sorry that you're feeling so discouraged.
However, I don't want to make you feel worse, but he's probably right. I'm 5'5" and I started out at 265 lbs. I know when I got to 241, I knew that I had lots more to lose. From what I've seen from a lot of sucessful people on the boards, they needed to follow the rules till they got to goal weight, and were there for a bit before they got PS. In one thread I read a quote, that I'll borrow for this circumstance. "Your weight loss is not a race, it's a journey." Take time, celebrate all the amazing work you've done up to this point, get excited about all that is to come. Know too that to a degree, what you're seeing isn't actually fat, it's loose skin, they are two completely different things.
Hoping that things look up for you soon...but do take care of yourself

| At 5 ""2""?
At your height if you are indeed 5"2"..you should be at about 125-145 pounds I would think depending on your build for normal weight. Can you say why you set your goal weight so high? Have you not thought about revising it now that you have seen how well you have lost your current weight. I can see the Dr saying you need to lose more weight before they would consider surgery and if you lost another even 50 pounds then you might have problems with sores and rashes from the overhang...?? They never like to do surgery on people until they have reached and maintained their goal weight for at least 6 months or so my surgeon says...
Just a thought.

My insurance excluded all plastic surgery unless it's done due to grafting for burns or whatever. So, I'll probably be wearing body shapers forever. But, that's okay, I'm still healthier.
But, I do know that my surgeon won't even make a recommendation to a plastic surgeon until you have been at goal for a year. He says that the body still shifts and may regain some elasticity, depending on your age.
I'm sorry you are so frustrated.
