Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

It's somewhat between the RNY and the sleeve, but I'm not sure it's done in the US, it's promoted mainly by only one group of surgeons in Taiwan (Formosa) as far as I know, and they probably don't yet have the kind of extensive data there is for RNY. Also, the paper linked here is about the only academic paper on this, too, as far as I know. Dr. Wang was one of the speakers at a workshop I attended, but I couldn't really see anything significantly different, and so at an advantage enough over RNY to promote this method over RNY. I thought the data for weight loss was somewhat lower with the mini than with RNY, so if you have less to lose, and have a surgeon well trained in the method, that could be an option. However, in considering the type of surgery, in the US, the choice that the surgeons can give you is RNY, VSG, BPD/DS, and lap banding.

oooh, I didnt like the look of that picture... looks as though food etc could go 2 ways! no, I think I would rather stick with the reg op!
Mind you, For 'smaller obese' patients, couldnt they increase the size of the pouch by 10mls? so have it 40ml instead of 30mls? that would prob save a lot of stress from getting way UNDER weight (initially), till you can eat more to balance out again??

Just a theory....
