Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Your nutrionist or surgeon should be able to supply you with a list of clear fluids or other foods for the first few weeks. Your taste buds may change after surger, so I wouldn't stock up on a months worth of much, except bottled water. You may like chocolate a lot now, but a $50 jug of chocolate protein powder, and completely dislike it post op. Try to get some samples of some protein powders---GNC normally has some, but you have to ask. Mashed potatoes should be allowed on soft foods, but NO GRAVY.

protein powder..try ordering some nectar protein..i love the kiwi strawberry and a alot of others swear by it..comes in different flavors..def have lots and lots of water...might wanna pick up some soups/broths, sugar free jello/pudding cups if you like..no sugar added applesauce is great to have around too...

as far as when you can add more, like soft foods, this depends on two things..one..youre docs instructions for you..and two..your own tolerance and pace of progression..i didn't do much more than the full liquid diet for a month..others were into soft foods and purees after 10 days..so it really just depends. When you can progress onto them though tuna and fat free refried beans and cheese were my favorite transition foods and they were both loaded with protein..let me know if you have any other questions

Congrats on your date arriving soon! See ya on the loser's bench!

What Dave said!!! Don't buy so much of any one thing. You just don't know what you will like/hate/tolerate. I bought a whole big 'vat' of egg white protein powder in Vanilla (can't have whey - milk) and for 4 weeks every time I even opened it and got a wiff - lets just say "yuk"! I couldn't take it back cause I opened it - and I finally just couldn't stand it even taking up space on my counter and threw it away (what a waste!).
vitalady.com has all those nector flavors and you can order samples of each one to see what you like and they are good for the clear stage.
Bariatriceating.com has a variety pack that comes with both shakes and nector samples.
Prior to surgery you are so eager to 'do it right' and you are concerned about your health that you tend to want to over do it. I had bought 2 cases of the isopure bottles and by the 4th day home when I saw my hubby coming towards me with one I would start to tear up (snif!), but at least the local GNC bought back the unopened bottles. So maybe just buy a few single bottles.
For the clear stage maybe have some chicken and beef low sodium broths, decaff tea, sugar free jellos, crysta light to add to water, and then some samples of the nectors for protein.
Once you can have full liquid (not clear) go for creamy soups, fat free sugar free puddings made with skim plus milk, farina or baby cerial made runny with skim plus milk, and some samples of different protein shakes. The dannon fit and light yogurts are the best, very low in cals and not bad in carbs.
Then when you get to soft try some of the baby foods, the protein shakes, soft cooked foods like fish and chicken (maybe even run through a food proccessor), not so much mashed potatos though - only a little for variety, you need to concentrate on protein, not carbs. Get that far, then check back in, otherwise you'll make yourself nuts. Good luck!

all the creamed soups i bought....still in my pantry
all the pudding i bought...still in my pantry
all the protein shakes i bought....can't stand, bought a new one
all the jello i bought...still in my pantry

i've never eaten mashed potatoes, hate creamed soups now and can't stand jello. what do I eat??? canned chicken, refried beans, melba toast, triscuits, hummus, some cottage cheese, high protein puddings that I just eat for the protein, not because I enjoy and Isopure protein drink.

don't buy much...you will be suprised how much your tastes change.
