Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I had my last pre-op appt today. We talked about my elevated liver enzymes. He said that is the result of obesity and gallstones, so he will remove my gallbladder during surgery, as well. I'm so happy about that, sure don't want to have two surgeries. This is maybe not completely honest, but I can truthfully say I had gallbladder surgery if I don't want to share everything with those who ask questions about why I'm off work, etc. Anyway, when I left the appt, I was starting to get excited. Well, except for the 2 week liquid diet I start on Monday. He said that it will shrink my liver 20-25%, which is doubly important with my liver/gallbladder problems. It will also shorten my surgery by about 20 minutes, which is pretty significant. They took my picture--both a front and side view to keep in my chart. They will take more at 6 months and one year appts. Hope the next 2 weeks fly by....OptiFast doesn't sound that good.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | WHAT a relief that the liver enzymes that were elevated were the result of obesity and gallstones...just what this surgery will cure. I think its great now you can tell everyone your haveing your gall bladder out...... and let only those you choose to know ur doing the gastric bypass. GOOD LUCK on the liquid diet. I think preop weight loss is good for reducting the liver size for lap surgery and i have read articles that it reduces your odds for complications! GOOD Luck and were here if you need us during your liquid pre op diet. I am sure you will be fine but know were here if your sturggling! hugzzzzzzzzzzz

| Super Moderator | Wannabe, that is sooooo great to hear. Congrats that you'll get your surgery as scheduled. Even if it sucks, you'll have to get used to the liquid diet, you'll be on it for a couple of weeks post op as well, so better to get used to it now, than be unhappy with it post op. I'm sure your surgery will go well, and yes, two weeks are a twinkle of an eye. (((((((((HUGS))))))))

| WLS Mentor | wannabe, i don't envy you those two weeks of opti fast but i'm sure if you keep telling yourself it's so you can have the surgery and less complications that it won't be so bad. I'm glad that your elevated liver enzymes are from obesity and stones and that it can be fixed during your wls.when the time comes are you gonna change your name. I mean, once your thin, wannabethin won't work right.
