Cool Bittersweet

Well I found out today that I am approved for Gastric Bypass Surgery - I have federal blue cross. Anyhow, that totally great and all, but the approval will expire Dec 31st and I am due with surprise munchkin #3 Jan 27th. Man oh man does that suck. But they tell me all we have to do is resubmit AS SOON as I have the baby and get back on track for surgery --- as the psych eval is good for a year so it will still be good at least!

I had a fantastically annoying time with BCBS as I called prior to the psych eval and the initial consult and was told everything is covered - and then this week I got denials.....so I called both the mental health folks and the reg folks and got those claims re-processing as there was going to be a HUGE battle....my benefits booklet clearly states it is covered as well, so I figured it was a system glitch...which with them is oftentimes the norm. (I can't tell you how many claims have been processed wrong in the 5 yrs I have had them as an adult...I had them growing up under my parents) I can't complain too much as the benefits are fantabulous for everything....I just wish they were more meticulous about processing claims.

So ---- am seeing my OBGYN next tues and will talk to him about how quickly afterwards he thinks is safe and my options for getting fixed so that these way expensive surprises don't continue! LOL I am hoping and praying we can squeeze the gastric in while I am on maternity leave if I can manage to take enough time off then......and then I could always get fixed a month or so later. (was thinking about that ablasion thing where they burn everything out - no periods! why get tubes tied and HAVE periods?)

Gotta run - monsters wanna go to the pool this afternoon...am hoping the water and sun makes them take a HUGE nap as I really need one today, too.

Hope all is well!
Kimmy

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

As a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, I might mention a few things. The ablation probably won't be covered under insurance unless it is being used to treat heavy bleeding. Also, some people still spot after. You could talk to you doctor about the Essure procedure--they insert metal coils into your fallopian tubes and scar tissue forms, blocking the tube. It can be done in the doctor's office and does not require surgery. Just a thought...wasn't sure if you knew about it.
