Could you please list what meds I should have on hand for after surgery?I have a friend who had this done and she said she took Flintstone Complete vitamins so i was wondering if I should buy them or not.I do not have my pre-op appointment until the 24th but I would like to stock up on stuff before I am off of work for the summer.
Thanks,
Babs

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Is it alright if the calcium citrate has Vitimin D in it? I thought I read that it should not but I am not sure.

Call ya Dr and ask what he places his patients on after surgery. I did this. Mine was Flintstone however...... they made me sick. I have no idea why. I have tried them like last month and it still made me sick. So call and ask that question about the Vitamins before hand. Good LUCK!

Tylenol is the only oTC pain med. I had that on hand, also dulcolax, peptobismal, Imodium, vitamins, biotin and sublingual B12. In the very beginning I could tolerate pills so didnt do any liquid meds. Welcome and GL. Kathy

I take Optisource bariatric vitamins which include the B12 in them. I take an additional calcium w/ vitamin D just in case I heard Optisource has iron which inhibits calcium absorption. I also try to take an Omega 3 fish oil, but it is nasty stuff so most days I forget it!

First off, ask your surgeon what he recommends. Everyone's surgeon says different.
Second, don't stock up too much on them, you may not be able to take them post op (this happens quite often with change in taste) and end up wasting the $$. If you find out post op that you can't take what the surgeon suggested, then ask him again if it's okay to try out some other brands.

I def agree with Doc...do not stock up on ANYTHING! I had a pantry full of stuff that I just threw out after surgery. I used the bariatric chewables until I was released from chewables and then went to all pill forms from Walmart with the exception of my B12 shot.

Kbfrmaz, try taking flaxseed oil instead of the fish oil. It has the same Omega 3s, but without the nasty fish taste.

Babs, call your surgeon's office, they will tell you what they want you to take. You will need some kind of laxative after the surgery but my surgeon sent me home with ducolax, bless his heart. I take the flintstones and love them.
