Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I have been searching the web and have not found anything. I forgot to ask my doctor at my appointment yesterday. She thinks my pain my be related to my galbladder, she is sending me for a Nuclear Scan as the ultrasound and CAT Scan did not turn anything up. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Die? Ok im not doc but I wanna comment a moment. There are alot of factors that cause the gallbladder to (act up) one of them is weight loss and not getting enough of the needed fat. Alot of women who just give birth have this problem and have to have it taken out. If you lose alot of weight it can flare up and cause you a considerable amount of pain. My own son at 11 years old whom is still thin had to have his removed because of sludge. AKA nothing was passing through it like it was supposed to. I personally think genetics come in to play with it also. I will be wating on Docs reply just like yourself because she can explain this so much better and in more detail. I have never heard the term DIE used when talking about the gallbladder. |

| Super Moderator | The gall bladder, as the function, is the bag where bile produced by the liver is stored before the bile is excreted into your digestive tract. In its normal state, the bile will collect in the gall bladder, until food comes along, which stimulates contraction of the gall bladder, and the bile is excreted to mix with the food. (The color of the bile is the color of your poo, BTW) It may malfunction--not contract when it should-- for a variety of reasons, and not all is known, actually. As MsVickie said, excess weight can cause it, rapid weight loss can cause it, bad food choices, unbalanced nutrition, and, infection, too. (First time I heard anyone use the expression *die*, too

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | the bypass causes us to bypass the gall bladder and the bile will form a sludge that can lead to gall stones. They put me on actigall for 6 months following surgery to keep the bile from hardening to form stones, so I never had a problem with my gall bladder (I've heard that a lot of surgeons remove the stupid thing during a bypass). Hope you get to the root of the problem...there are things they can do to dissolve gall stones without surgery....ask about actigall! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | If you can wait until WLS that would be great. However if you cant I will let you first hand the pain gets worse each time it flares. I hope you can wait however because it certianly be easier for you that way. |
