Default I have been doing some research ... could you help me with something?

I know from my classes and research that things aren't always a piece of cake after WLS surgery. For example ... possibly change in taste buds, odorous body parts, including BM/Passing gas. Does this happen to everyone? Or is there something that can be done to avoid it from happening?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I Had All The Above Hun And I Just Had To Learn To Live With It. (NEVER HAD BODY ODOR THOUGH NEVER HEARD OF THAT) But After A Year Out Things Are Starting To Get Back To Normal. But I Noticed I Still Dont Like Certain Foods As Much As I Used. Like Chocolate And Pizza. I Just Dont Go Gaga Over Them. change in taste buds....and sometimes, the gas is really bad. There really isn't anything you can do about it...you are changing your digestive process and that's just part of it. I don't have body odor, other than I'm "farty" sometimes and my daughter and DDH say it does smell!!!

It's worth it in the long run! I feel fantastic!

I didnt have BO?? Never heard that one before acutally. However gas is not near as bad as it was before surgery. I can say that for myself for sure. The taste bud thing is just about everyone. Its a good thing acutally I think. It makes you taste food and some of the stuff we eat before we can surely taste how bad it really was.

def change in taste buds. we all joke about having brain surgery as wel because the old stuff we use to LIVE for doesnt even taste good. it might also be because we cant INHALE food anymore as well...it's debatable. i will tell you the gas PAIN is horrble. the odor from passing it could kill a horse! thats life though. you have control over when you expell i have also noticed my sense of smell is much better too. breath, body odors, ingredients in food; i can pick them all up for some reason.

it's been very interesting indeed.

About change in taste.
Do you really want it not to change post op? This is probably one of the things that got you into trouble in the first place.

The gas and its odor is due in part to the bypassed guts--the guts that the digested food passes through is shorter, so some things are not processed far enough that what causes them are not broken down enough, or/nor absorbed before it reaches the end. As your body adjusts to the changes, and the guts that are still in the functional route start to compensate for the bypassed guts, some of this will get better.

For the most part, things have gotten back to the same as before, I just eat less. The only difference I notice (that I think is just because I just don't eat it much anymore) is that I'm way more sensitive to sweets. I can also now have sugar free stuff whereas before I avoided them like the plague.
ie.) I used to take 6 sugar packets in one of those little styrofoam cups, now I put 2 equals in the bigger cup.
ie.) I used to sit down with a whole container of strawberries and a plate of sugar to dip. Now I eat 3-4 plain and they are to die for!

Some of my taste differences changed initially but are continuing to change. As for gas, if only I could capture it and fill my car's tank!!!!! Thankfully, it rarely smells at all but makes up for it in unpleasant noises!
