Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Wow, that is an aweful long list of requirements, but think of it like this...you will know what is and isnt wrong with you before your surgery. My surgeons office is just beginning to require the bone density scans as part of your follow up.

Very thorough, yes.
But, in the past couple of years or so, a lot of studies have come out on the various aspects and effects of bariatric surgery.
So, the through pre op program is to help you prepare better for your post op journey, and to insure that your health is as well as it can be pre op, for a better recovery and better journey post op.

One of the things that are becoming well known that obese people often have vitamins/nutrient deficiencies PRE-OP---yep, that's correct, pre op. So you should have a thorough blood work done, including all your vitamin/nutrient levels and start correcting them pre op.
Another is that rapid weight loss can cause bone loss because of both VitD and calcium deficiency due to low intake, and in the case of bypass surgeries, reduced absorbtion, so it's best to confirm the health of your bones. Keep up with the VitD and calcium, and also exercise, and get in some sunlight every day, as excercise stimulates your bones and increases calcium uptake into the bones, and sunlight activates VitD to help with calcium absorbtion.

This is a life altering journey in so many aspects, so it's good that your surgeon and staff are on their toes in keeping everything in tip top shape, congrats!!

I personally think its a good thing they make you go through all the stuff they do. Yes its ALOT however you get educated about it all before hand so there are not many suprises in the end. It also weeds out the ones that arent really ready. Its almost here honey. Its almost here.

It seems like a lot (because it is!) but it'll be worth it. You'll be safer, more prepared and very educated. A recipe for success!

I think we all had some type of wait time before the actul surgery date. From start to surgery took me 11 months so think almost a year. And I will do it all over again if I had to.
