Default Hmm ... mixed feelings

First impressions, as Dr. Machado walked up to the front she stopped and said, ‘most children find this very boring’, and walked away. Not too sure what she meant by that, was she wanting us to leave? I did not have anyone to watch my children. Well I decided to stay, after all this was the next step, I had to stay. In the end the girls were very good and I even had compliments from the others who attended the class.

So the presentation was better then any other WLS class I have been to. She was so confident, of which we all like in a surgeon. My other surgeon was not confident and we that left me scared and not wanting the operation.

She did a movie of before and after, the last individual’s after was blank and then we saw her walking up the aisle. Dr. Machado said her patient could hardly walk into her office last February. To look at her now you would not even guess that she had WLS.

So after everything was complete they advise if anyone was still interested to fill out some paperwork in the back. I asked Dr. Machado if I still needed to since she had all of my paperwork and she stated yes. So I was off to collect the paper work. It was easy to fill out as I have written all these things a hundred times before (just kidding).

I asked if I could leave it with them and the gal said that I could mail, fax or drop it off at the office. I figured since I had it all filled out I could just leave it with them. She said she had a long day and well if she took my paperwork then she would have to wait to take everyone else’s. I guess that is understandable. So I asked her if I could drop it off at their office now. She said if I could get it through the door go for it.

So DH took me about a mile away and I got it through their door without messing up the paperwork. I know what was my rush? Well I leave to far to come back just to deliver paperwork, I don’t have a fax and faxing from Kinko is too expensive. I just thought this was the cheapest route. So probably think I am crazy, but I just wanted it to be done. So I get to the next step.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Sounds like, for the most part, everything went well and you feel secure in this doctors hands. As for her comment about the kids.. Understandable. There may have been children in the past who have attended the meetings and weren't so good. Good luck with this doctor and getting through all the steps needed. You'll be glad you were so persistent.

Wow....well it sounds like you are on you way...they don't sound too "patient" friendly, but if you are comfortable, that's all that matters! Keep us posted!

Yeah, I was surprised by what the gal had said in regards to having a long day and she would not be willing to help me, etc. But we all have those kind of days. Everyone I spoke previously in regards to Dr. Machado said she has an excellent staff. So hopefully things go smooth.

Glad you made it through the seminar. I found Dr. Machado and her staff to be somewhat stressed out during the seminar I attended in April--they've been much more friendly at her office.

They did seem a bit stressed, though previous conversations over the phone were great.
