Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass |  I am SOOOO frustrated
I know that I haven't been here much lately....trying not to focus on how slow it has been to get my surgery date. Today, I called the insurance company. They have finally authorized it but the letter has not been mailed to the surgeon's office yet. They just authorized it this morning. I called the doctor's office and told them about the conversation that I just had and is there any way for their insurance department to call my insurance company and get the authorization number. NO....they have to wait until they get the letter from the insurance company and it gets entered in their system and then is transferred over to their surgical scheduler and then I will get a phone call to get it scheduled. So let's see....if the letter is mailed today or tomorrow....it is coming from Michigan to Oregon - that is 4 days....take into account the holiday.....and take into account that the letter has to go through a huge mail room at the hospital where the doctors office is located...if I am LUCKY the surgeon's office will get the letter by next Friday. That is a big IF. Then with all the other steps involved - IF I am lucky I will get a call to schedule the week of the 15th and IF I am really lucky, I may get the surgery by Halloween. I am so frustrated that I am about ready to cry. I am also about 2 seconds away from saying screw the whole thing and not doing it. I keep telling myself that I am lucky because I didn't have a lot of huge hoops to jump through but there seems to be absolutely no sense of urgency at the surgeons office to help facilitate the process. Especially when I have been making phone calls to the insurance company myself about the authorization. Sorry - I needed to vent. Talk me off the ledge and convince me to not cancel!

Hang in there use this time to start your journey, and get yourself in the best mind set a posible for surgery. Your time will be here before you know it. You are approved now relax, ask yourself why since you have been approved are you thinking about calling the whole thing off? Do as much research and learing as you can, fill up your time until they set your date with positive and constructive thoughts. Enjoy the holiday weekend and try to get your mind off of the surgery date for awhile. A watched pot never boils. Good luck to you, you will be on the loosers bench before you know it.

Thanks ya'll. I do feel better now. The thought of calling it off was just out of sheer frustration. I'm not going to cancel - not after coming as far as I have so far! No way! LOL Thank you for letting me come and vent. I really needed it!

Malone...it's not as bad as it seems. Not sure if you've been following my story, but I went through the whole shabang, got approved beginning of August and now have to wait until DECEMBER 4TH for my surgery because our office is scheduling that far out due to one of the physicians taking a medical leave for chemo/radiation. He'll be back in January and things should pick up again, but my timing in getting thorugh the program just happened to fall in the time period when this other surgeon(not mine) got sick. So I'm having to wait 4 months. I'm trying to use this time to get my act together, to start excercising, keep eating right, continuing my research, etc. I do fall off the wagon, revert to old habits because i"m a bit depressed about the length of my wait, but I pick my self up and continue on. You'll do great too. It'll be here before you know it. Look at me.. a month has gone by almost since I got my surgery date and it's gone by fast.

Thanks everyone! I am actually a lot calmer today. I decided that it is taking longer because we are going to do the last week in September. My birthday is the 28th so if we do it that week then it will be a birthday present to myself for the rebirth of my new life. (See....being philosophical). Thank you everyone though for your encouragement. You are right - I have come way too far to back out now!
