Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

my surgeon bases that decision on the amount of belly fat that a person has. the reason is to shrink the liver to assist in the surgery going smoother. i had read of a number of people doing 2 weeks liquids being very helpful, so, even though my surgeon said that i didn't need to do the 2 weeks liquids i decided to go ahead any way to prepare myself physically and mentally for the procedure. it wasn't all "clear" liquids but drank labrada vanilla ice cream protein shakes every morning for breakfast - they are very delicious and filling. i would have either beef or chicken broth for lunch and some form of liquid protein for dinner.

Thanks Joanne! That makes a lot of sense. I wondered why there were such differences. I was going to try the liquid diet before hand for the same reason. Thanks for the labrada information. I've been experiementing and haven't tried that one yet.

No diet of any sort for me. Just eat light for the few days before and nothing after midnight. I had open....usually the diets are more for lapo. I was self pay and could not afford the extra cost....turns out after my upper gi that I have a malrotation of my small intestine and would have had to have open anyway!

my Doc is one of the surgeons on big medicine. He asks that you complete a two week diet of liquids. He wants you to purchase a Pre-Op Kit that contains the meal replacements and vitamins. It is 194.00. i would rather do Low Card Slim Fast for two weeks instead.

I actually just started my two week requirement yesterday. My doctor also requires it to shrink the liver. It is 8oz protein shake two meals of the day, and 4oz cooked protein and 1/2 cup non-starch veggie for third meal. Doc doesn't care which order I place the meal, either. I can have 2 servings each of broth, sf jello, and sf popsicles. It is not so bad, but it is only day two, and I tell ya, my tummy has been a-growlin'. Now I want surgery to come just to actually feel satisfied from small portions rather than having a full sized stomach and micro mini meals LOL
