Question Liquid diet before surgery

I've been reading through all the posts (what great information, and great people) and have a poll type question. There's huge difference in what drs require as a "preop diet". Mine requires clear liquids the day before the surgery. Others require liquid diet 3 days before. I was actually considering doing the liquid diet for more than 1 day because I really want to make sure my system is all "cleaned" out.

What were everyone else's requirements, and do you know why some require longer time on clear liquids before surgery?

Thanks!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I never had to do a liquid diet. I just had to drink that NASTY phosphasoda at 3:00 the day before my surgery and let me tell you, I was certainly cleaned out after that stuff!!!

Just the day before for me. I think I heard or saw it on Big Medicine that they like some to do it sonner so they can decrease the size of the liver. I could be wrong and Im sure Doc will be on soon but I think that may be why.

The answer is: What your surgeon says.

But I had 3 day clear liquids and 2 shots of phospho soda the night before.

A lot of how many days, depends on the surgeon's experience and philosophy.
Just stick to YOUR surgeon's program.

I had to do low carb two weeks before surgery. Almost at Atkins level. It was to shrink the liver so the surgeon has an easier time performing the operation.

Don't worry about cleansing. The phospho soda you have to take the day before leaves absolutely nothing left.
