| How do you deal with the cravings?
Hello everyone.
I had my surgery on Monday the 10th and up until Friday I was not craving anything at all but yesterday that all changed. I have been craving anything and everything. I am sipping liquids constantly to try to get so full that I won't crave but it seams as though I never get to that point of being full that everyone talks about. Is it normal to not feel like I am totally full EVER. I am beginning to wonder if the surgery is going to actually work for me. I need some advice on how to stop the craving because sipping liquids all day isn't working for me. Will the craving ever really go away and shouldn't I be getting extremely full with all the liquid I am drinking? Please give me any answers or advice anyone out there my have. I am really struggling.

You are going through the roughest part, Janice. Hang in there. Your tummy is very raw at the moment and should not take anything other than what your surgeon or nutritionist have instructed. Physically you cannot tell hungry from full right now, even though you may feel you are really hungry.
You are experiencing "head hunger" and the good news is it will pass as time goes on. Also it is very common at this point to have some regrets...that too will pass.
Feel confident that with the liquids and liquid protein supplements, you are getting the nutrition you need right now.
Get some sugar free popcicles and suck on those as much as you want. That seems to help.
Hang in there, sister. Take a walk down the street for 10-20 minutes. Keep posting here. You are doing great!

Thank you very much for your reply. I helps to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and this hunger will go away. I just felt like something might be wring because I am not experiencing the full feeling everyone talks about. But I trust that will come with time. Just needed some reassuring I guess. Again thanks for helping me out. I have a feeling I will be needing a lot of support the next couple of weeks.

I just want everyone to know just how much these post really help me. Even though I am going through a really rough time I have not regreted having the surgery at all. I just let my mind take over with its negative ways and I start doubting if I will be a success. On a good note after I posted the start of this thread I found a couple of things that seems to be helping me. One is my husband went to the store and found me some Knoor brand chicken bouilon cubes. And it is great it seems as if it has filled me up better than anything I have tried so far and it is super good compared to the ready made chicken broths I have found and believe me I think I have tryed them all. The other thing that has completly stopped my craving is that I took a bite of something I was craving, chewed it and spit it all out. I know that sounds gross but it totally killed my craving. I am not sure that was legal though.

Ah, the Aguilera! There was rumor that Christina Aguilera took baggies with her to restaurants to do exactly what you described.
I think most of us have done that a time or two.

chewing and spitting out - i have read about people doing that but haven't personally done that. be careful what you are chewing that it doesn't have fats or sugars in it. the sugar free popsicles in moderation were a big help to me - they do have carbs in them though so not too many. try a protein shake rather in addition to clear protein.

Your pouch is still healing, so hang in there. You will get lots of, and all sorts of, head hunger. It's rather like the lost limb syndrome with amputees. This takes time, and everyone has gone through this, and gotten through, so you will, too.
