Default My pre-surgery progress!~

Hi everyone!

Well I went to the seminar and have had TWO nutrition appointments so far! I am eating far healthier than I was before! I have lost a total of 10 lbs in 5 weeks which is the way my family doctor wants it ...nice slow and steady!

The nutritionist is happy with my weight loss.

Everyone around me is asking why, if I can lose the weight this way, am I still having surgery and I try to explain to them that if I don't have the surgery it will be just a matter of time until I go back to eating the old way! "Oh a little more butter on this bread won't hurt" "Well if I only eat a little bit of REAL butter it won't hurt""One hot dog won't hurt" and before you know it...I'm back up over 200 lbs and I only stand 5'2"!

I tell them the surgery is a tool to help me maintain the weight loss and some understand and some don't. Some have the same mentality I had before attending the classes...that you would go in have the surgery and that would be it! It would be a miracle cure for obesity.

Boy was I wrong!

ETA: I HAVE NOT HAD ONE SIP OF CARBONATED BEVERAGES SINCE APRIL 29,2009!!!!!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

That is the part they will never understand. I think we have all tried to explain that to people and they just don't get it. I suppose they never will. I think its wonderful your doing what you are pre surgery. It will help you after. Especially getting your liver smaller so they don't have any trouble getting around it to get to your stomach. That is the allot of the reason why the surgeon ask most people to lose some before.

Keep on going on and your day will come soon I'm sure!

Keep up the good job, and congrats on the 10lbs you've accomplished.

Thank you Miss Vicki

I guess you have to attend the meetings and get the full scoop and get SERIOUS about the surgery in order to understand.

I'm glad you told me about the liver cause I thought they just wanted me to lose weight because they wanted me to learn how I would be eating AFTER the surgery and because there wouldn't be quite so much fat for them to have to cut through to get to the stomach and intestines.

Thank you! I'm still nervous about the surgery and worried that I won't be able to have the laproscopic surgery cause I have THREE large scars from an appendectomy, a Gall bladder removal and a C-section but whatever the dr decides will be ok with me.

As for the ten pounds...it seems like it took forever. But now I'm working on the next 10!
