Is there a website that gives stats on outcomes of WLS in all hospitals that perform the surgery? Hoping for something longitudinal, like 5, 10, 20 years out. Thanks. ckline

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I don't think so. Plus, this surgery hasn't be standard long enough for 10-20 years of accumilated data. Granted, there are some, but what I mean is, the finer points of the surgery have been revised over time, plus some methods have since then been abandoned, which means you can't apply these date directly to yourself, you can only make an intelligent guess from them.

Here's the link to an overview on two studies published in 2008.

Well, I really thought about the bypass too. I honestly didn't want my inside cut. i really couldn't do 4 + weeks without working. I heard good and bad things about RNY and LPS.

Well, tomorrow is my big day!

Thanks,

sandy

Default my dear Sandy

As you can tell most of us felt the same thing you are feeling right now but, LOVE YOURSELF FIRST. This is a lifestyle change. Conquer one minute at a time. I felt the same way before I had my surgery 07/07. But when I decided to have my surgery I never looked back I went from a tight 24 to a comfy 10-12 and lovemynewme, and you will too. Once you start loving yourself everybody will drawn to that feeling of confidence, accomplishment and not about how your life was but how your life is now. Food is our best friend through everything we deal with but I promise you healthy lifestyle will still be your best friend, you won't believe how much better you will feel. Remeber one day at a time, Good luck

To All,

Well, it's over! What a day.... I'm with my parents for a couple of weeks, so that I feel like a little girl again. It's amazing how your parent can revert back to the protective parents that you always remembered. I had a amazing encounters with several banders today. I was so happy to share my fears and excitiement I felt today. I met 4 best friends. All four of them are banders. three lost 100 pds each, over a 2 year period. The accompanied their other best friend for the same surgery!

What amazing guys!

It all happened so fast. I feel sore, tried, but very hopeful about the future. You know something, while I was under, I had a dream, or something happen that gave me hope, but frighten me. The voices said" Sandy you must live your best life. Don't look back......never...These were voices of the friends I lost on 9/11. I heard at least 4 different voices repeating the same words, then I saw such a bright light. I woke up( that's what the surgeon)saying, Thank you, Thank you....but I can't see you. Scary? Yes, very.

I have looked back for years, blaming myself, hurting myself, with food, with everything. I believe I didn't deserve happiness, because I survive that fateful day.
but at this moment, for once, feel confident about the next chapter of my life.

Thanks you for your kind words and support. I will need a lot of that for the next chapters.

Lots of love,

Sandy

Take the time to look into sleev gastrectomy as well. It seems to be a kind of in between. No foreign object but not as many potential complications as bypass.
