| Help!
Help! I need a little inspiration. I have submitted all of my required documents and completed all of my required tests. I faxed the package to my surgeon's office about 10 days ago. When I emailed the office to follow up, I was told that the lady who compiles the packets to submit to insurance companies has broken her finger and is way behind on her work. UGH! I sympathize with her and her injury however, should I have to wait because of it? I don't want to be rude but why don't they get her some help?
I asked her if I could submit the info to my insurance company and was told that it would probably prolong the process if I submitted it because they would still need to submit info. Is that true? How did you make it through the wait???/

One thing we all had to develop on this journey (if we didn't already have it!) is patience!! This is not the last time you'll need it, that's for sure!!!
Calm down, take a deep breath, and take your mind to a quiet place. You can only control so many things in life, and this doesn't look like one of them! It'll come when it comes! Until then, do a search in the archives here for the keyword "patience" and see what your future holds!!

Yep , you just have to wait it out... The only thing I would sugest is if it goes beyond a week that you have not heard anything in regards to it being submitted..( not the aproval, but the submission part) Call and say something along the lines of.... I just wanted to make sure that you all the paper work from all my other Drs that you will need when you submit my file have arrived for you. Is there anything I can do to help you out? This just keeps you on a postive note with them and keeps you enformed of the statis. If the conversation tone seems Ok , you might even be able to ask when the aprox time era will be. This will atleast give you a date to sit on your hands untill.
Hang in there, your day will come soon enough!

In some ways I was lucky, I didn't know that my stuff had been submitted to my primary insurance until beginning of June (I think) and it was submitted April 23, however then I found out that my secondary insurance, which had told me they would approve separately, won't look at the paperwork because they are secondary, they will wait until I have the surgery. Well at least the primary approved a couple of weeks ago even if the coverage is minimal, at least that is what I thought, but when I called today to find out when to expect the letter of approval, they said it hasn't been approved yet. So after about 4 hours of them messing with it, I finally got transferred to the account manager (who my husband talked to when she called and told him to have me contact the surgeons office for benefits) where I was able to leave a message but have not received a return call. First thing tomorrow I will be calling the surgeons office. Its bad enough having a max of $15,000 coverage when the secondary won't pre-approve, but I will have to cancel if the primary changes their mind. I keep telling myself that someone had to make a mistake, how could my husband and the surgeons office get the call if I wasn't approved?
I need to pray for more patience, because the 15 days(that is what UHC told me today) that the insurance company normally takes is now at 61 and I need to buy my supplements, vitamins, and pay the rest of my program fee, all of which is useless if I don't get to have the surgery.
I really wish I had done this last year when I wouldn't have had to pick up primary insurance through my company. Things would be much easier.
So I guess I am saying that no matter what, there will be times to hurry up and wait (I think I remember that from living on a military base), there will be roadblocks during your journey, but you have faith that when the time is right you will get your approval and your surgery will go well.

Hang in there, your day will come soon enough! | Kate,
The staff has been very accommodating and have answered all of my questions to this point. That is one reason I feel bad about being so impatient with them. However from reading the posts in this forum, I do know that I have to be proactive and advocate for myself. I just don't want to be overly aggressive.

I too have UHC. I have choice plus. My surgeons office actually told me they are one of the easier companies to work with. I hope all goes well. I see you have your date August 3rd. Did they finally approve you or not?
