Hello everyone - you dont know how happy I am to have found this forum.
I received a letter two days ago to inform me I am now on a pre op diet and my surgery is on the 26th March 2007. Has of yet I have not seen the dietician about the pre op diet and I am rather concerned. Can anyone be of help too me.
Today is my first day officially and already I have a massive headache - is this normal? I think any advice you could give me would be great. Incidentally I am in the UK.

Where in UK?? I had to be in Leeds for studies, I just came back 2 months ago! Ahh I miss Leeds!
Well, probably the headache you have is a withdrwal feeling due to low blood sugar. Are you in low carb diet at the moment?
BTW, I'm +11 months post-op now and I couldn't have gone so far with the weight loss without the low carb diet!

Hi Hanadi - what a small world - I actually was born in Leeds, but now live near the humber bridge in east yorkshire, where I work as an ICT teacher.
With regards to the diet - I have not got a clue what I am on. Have just been told to have clear soups, jelly and black tea or water for the next two weeks prior to having my gastric bypass done. I wish they had given me more information as this is not enough for me. Hence why I was online trying to find some and found this forum. Have got to admit I'm abit scared, but looking forward to it too.

Well what you're going through is very normal I was in the same shoe last year !! And ohh, thank God I made the right decision I did open RNY bypass 18/4/06 and Gosh my life has turned 180 degree! I bought myself a new life!!

Sounds like you've been put on two weeks of liquid diet, pre op.
This is to have you lose some weight before the surgery, and shrink your liver a bit, so the stress of surgery will be less.
Good luck on your pre-op preparations, keeping you in my prayers for an uneventful surgery and uncomplicated recovery.

Hi Juls and welcome to the board! I hope all went well for you in surgery yesterday. My surgery is on the 29th--this Thurs. I think we will get alot of support from all on this site. So far all the info has been great--thanks to everyone!! Hopefully we can give each other the encouragement we need or a kick in the pants when needed LOL
