HI i'm fairly new to the site & i'm asking to hear from any UK members here.

How are you getting on , pre or post op, what op, etc

Hi Claire - I think you have already gathered I am going in hospital today for surgery tomorrow - so this is the only reply I can make until I come out.

Are you on any waiting list for a gastric bypass? I have done well really. My doc put my forward for it last July - I got an appointment to see my surgeon and was put on the waiting list in october - so am actually getting mine done (RNY) after being on the waiting list for 5 months - which is good.

I am currently doing the pre-op diet and have struggled in my second week of this. The first couple of days was hard due to the withdrawal of sugar etc... and I had bad headaches, but by weds that was more or less over with.

If I can give you any advice at all - it would be:-

1. make sure you have jellys etc made up and ready to go - its when stuff was not there for me that I had my little blunders.

2. Join a support group in the UK as well as this one. I live in East Yorkshire so I was able to join the Hull support group online. I have even met up with these lovely people on a couple of occasions and I can tell you the advice was invaluable. So was the support when I blundered. My support group have members from all over - this is there link Sign In

Hi,
I have just had my surgery on 27 March 2007, so havent been on the computer for a bit. I had my surgery done privately, so cant help you with the waiting times.
Am 9 days out and feeling fine.
I had a band fitted first, but it slipped, which was a shame because I lost all my excess weight with it 109lbs, but put back about 45% so had a by pass. The band was fab, sorry to see it go, but hopefully will do well now.
Where are you in the country and where are you in your journey.
I hope to hear from you
