I am halfway through my 2 week pre op diet and today I cheated and had about 1/4 of a muffin. is this going to cancel my surgery. I was wondering why any kind of carbohydrates are banned, does it have to do with the type of calories you have or just that the doctors are trying to break the carb craving. I am allowed protein, veggies and fruit in small amounts. Is it just weight loss they want before surgery or do carbs affect the liver differently. Sorry it thats a stupid question.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

First off, get back on the wagon, stay on it from now, and you'll do fine.
Yes, carbs affect your liver differently, because excess sugar is processed into triglycerides and glycogen which are stored in the liver. Shrinking the liver means reducing the fat content in the liver, so you need to be careful there.

When is your date exactly?
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for an uneventful surgery and uncomplicated recovery.

You are worrying too much. It's not the end of the world if you eat real food. You just want to make healthier choices that are low fat. I ate regular food up til the day before my surgery. I lost 32 lbs. My liver was shrunk and I had my surgery done laproscopically. No problems.

Totally normal....i was on my pre op diet and three days before surgery i had a small plate of shells and ricotta in a panic thinking that was the last time ever to have pasta.....although i dont eat it much i do ocassionally have a tiny bit of it nowdays.....Dont worry about it....not like your eating bad every day....just stick to the plan now and you will be fine. SHirinking your liver is a benefit to both you and your surgeon. A better visual field means easier surgery for the surgeon and easier recovery for you. Good luck and best wishes for a textbook surgery and quick and easy recovery., Keep us posted.

My surgery is May 4th, I have learned somethings about my cravings during this pre op diet and what triggers them, which I hope will help me after surgery. Thanks for all the help.

((((Camick))))

Hang in there girl! I know it's hard. It's going to be soo worth it after we get this done. This is day 9 for me and I have resisted any cheating. I'm not going to say I haven't thought about it though. I think I'm just sooo scared about the surgery, it's keeping me in line. Now, the girl at my surgeons office said that I can have egg drop soup. And I have ate that the past few days. It's a nice treat. But, then I second guess what she said because of the eggs in it, and I thought we were suppose to stay away from protein too. So, I'm a little confused about that, but she said I can eat it, and I have!!! Good luck!! As Monday approaches, I get more and more nervous, but I keep giving myself pep talks. Just keep telling yourself....I can do it, I can do it!!!!!
