Default Pre-OP physical and start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow

Tomorrow I start my 2 week liquid diet and I go to my primary doctor for my pre-op physical! It seemed like it was taking forever for this date to come now that it is here it doesn't seem like it took that long at all, I have been taught so many important things in the past 6 months. I hope the next 2 weeks go by quickly, I am a tad nervous about the 2 week liquid diet, I know I can do it, it is just that right now it looks like forever, I am so excited for my surgery so I can really feel it has all been worth the wait. My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, 10/18. If anyone has any advise please let me know, I look forward to hearing your experience and hope to gain some good habits/advise from you! Thanks for listening.

Georgie

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

You will be surprised how quickly the time will fly. It sounds like you had a six-month waiting period like I did, and they do throw a lot of information at you. I put everything in a binder and refer to it everyday to make sure I am on the right track while it is all so new.

The 2-week liquid diet is not fun, but just remember it is one more step towards your goal. Now is seems the 2 weeks passed in a blink.

I have been very fortunate with my surgery with no problems so far. I pray things go as well for you. My only advice is when you get the green light at the hospital, get your behind moving and walk up and down the hospital corridors. My doctor told me it helps with your recovery, helps you avoid blood clots, and helps your overall well being.

Good luck, day 3-4 will be the toughest, but once you're beyond that, it will get easier. (((HUGS)))

Hi Georgie! Congratulations on your surgery date!! The liquid diet is rough the first 3 days, but once you get through that...you will be surprised how quickly your appetite settles down. I do 3 protein shakes a day and low fat/low sodium broth for lunch and dinner. Sugar free popsicles at night also help with the 'snackies.' I am 5 days out from my surgery, so our dates are pretty close! I can't wait to see your progress!! It will be here before you know it!!

TOday is day 4, all in all it is going well, however today (this morning) I was very dizzy not sure why, asked several people and I think it maybe dehydration, so, I think they maybe right on with drinking everything I think I was ignoring the water, so, I stepped it up and now I feel better. This is my 1st weekend on the liquid diet, I hope it id not as challenging as I am anticipating it maybe (focusing on the long term). Thanks for all the support. Another gal I know personally is having surgery the same morning as I am, we chat with eachother daily on facebook to check on eachother, that too has been huge! Again, THANK YOU for all the support I really do appreciate it!

Georgie

Now on day 9! So far doing OK, 1 more weekend to go then surgery on Tuesday. My nurse called me today to check on me and get my current weight for the final forms to be sumitted to the hospital.

Only 1 thing bothering me I found out tonight that they are having Parents Night Wednesday, Oct. 19th for one of my sons' football team and one of my dughters' cheerleading team, this should be the day I get released from the hospital, they both say they understand and I know they do, I am probably most irritated that the school waited until the LAST game of the regular season to do it! I know I feel the worst because these are 2 of the 3 children that my husband and I had just adopted in December 2010.

That's really annoying about the Parent's Night Georgie, but I bet your kids really do understand - they will know that you are doing this because you love them and want to be around and healthy for them. My surgery is Tues 18th as well, but with the time zone difference I'll be a little bit ahead of you ) I'm feeling excited and terrified at the same time, which I'm picking is probably quite normal, lol. I stay in hospital til Friday morning here, but I'll have my laptop and am looking forward to seeing how you are doing. Good luck to us both!!

Yes, good luck to you also! My surgery on Tuesday will be the 2nd one of the day, if all goes well with the 1st person, who is a friend of mine I should go in about 11am. I will be taking my iPad with me to keep reading, posting and praying for everyone.
