Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I need help!!!! Ok I have gone down to drinking a Atkins shake for breakfast and lunch. A cup of fat free cottage cheese, and meat and veggies for dinner. I am exercising on the Gazelle which is considered an elliptical machine. I am doing between 45 mins and an hour. Mostly the hour as I get in 3 miles and it usually takes me that long. Well today I step on the scale, and once again its going in the wrong direction. I am starting to panic, I know I have another weigh in coming up in June and still no weight lost. What am I going to do? Anyone with suggestions, I am getting desperate. TIA

| Super Moderator | So, what about your inches? Yup, you are hearing right, inches. Are your clothes feeling a little less tight than before? Since you are exercising, it means that your muscle will be increasing. Now, muscle weighs more per volume compared to fat. So, with exercise, while you are burning fat, you'll be building muscle, which, as volume is less, but in weight will be more. Hence, since your volume is reducing, you will be just a wee bit slimmer, even if the scale numbers don't reflect the change. That may be why your scale is moving in the direction you don't like. Also, are you drinking enough water? You need a lot of water to flush out what you don't need from your body. If you are not hydrated well, your body is going to try to hang on to everything, even things that should be thrown away. Another throught, if your monthly is coming near, you could be retaining water from that. ((((((HUGS))))))

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Yes my clothes seem to fit looser, and I do drink plenty of water. My fear is that even if I am losing inches, I won't lose any pounds and thats where I will be in trouble when I go to weigh in. I already had a gain last month due to I got TOM right on weigh in day. They told me I "have" to lose something this next weigh in. That is why I am panicing I guess. But any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks Doc for making me realize that although I haven't lost a pound, I am doing something right.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Sounds stupid, but you also might not be eating enough! Your body may be fighting back and thinking you are trying to starve it and keeping the weight. I am having the same problem. I am going to curves three times a week walking a mile a day and eating 5 small meals a day and the scale is not moving. Maybe one or two pounds. Eat more protein and drink water! Anna

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Cherri, Now Im obese etc, so my word might not count so much but if i was in your position right now this is what I would do. LOL Keep the excersising going. That is a good thing. Count your calories. Try to keep them at 1,200 a day. You have not had surgry yet so you can eat what will make those up. I always found I could lose more wieght buy counting calories better than anything I tried. I didnt pay attention to the fat content because alot of times the calories were outragous. You can eat anything. Just eat the serviig size of it. That is the tough part i know. Drink water inbetween. When I would get hungry after dinner at nite i would eat popcorn. Try that for a week and see if you have any results at all. Like DOC said..... Im sure your losing inches but you need to see the scale move because of the weigh in because your insurance demands it. If you count the calories you will do it. Let me tell you somthing I heard its meant to be funny. The year 2020 scientist discover that counting calories and excerise is the key to loosing weight.. LOL. So try it a week and watch that scale move. Now It always did for me. However i didnt stay compliant with it as you can see but it will work for what you need it for. Keep me up to date. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi Cherri, you might try the preop diet I was on before surgery. I lost 16 lbs in 2 weeks which is totally amazing to me. I had protein shake with 1% milk in the am, an atkins shake at lunch and 4 oz of protein, 4oz of veggies for dinner. during the day when I got hungry I saved my 4 oz of fruit and took little bites throughout the day. I was also allowed unlimited sugerfree popsicles and jello which helped and chicken broth. I found if I pre weighed everything in advance and then shaved off little bits of chicken or carrots and put them in my chicken broth that helped alot also. hope this helps. Connie

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I do eat 1200 calories or less a day, its what the gave me for my diet plan. I am on a gluten free diet on top of it, so I am very limited on what I can have. So I know I can follow the diet, I guess I am just frustrated. That and scared because I know I have to lose something, and the scale wont go down. They wont care about inches lost, they just want pounds gone. I just am afraid of what I will hear if I go in again with a gain. I know they said the insurance company doesn't like to see that. If I could lose a ton on my own I wouldn't be looking for a tool to help me lose and keep it off. I just dont want to get aggravated and down and not exercise. I have many problems with my knees, achilles tendonitis, and more lol. Even though those things bother me when I exercise I am still pushing myself. Thats another reason I am frustrated, I guess I just need some hope and words of wisdom from you all. Thanks
