So, three weeks from today, I will be NOT getting any sleep because I will be so excited about starting my new life on the 12th.  Ok - for the question.. how are you all figuring out when you should reach your goal weight on your profiles? Will our surgeon do this or is this something I should figure out?  And oh yeah, will I really need tongs to use at the hospital? Should I invest in the bottom buddy thing or just use tongs? Feel free to email me responses if you don't want to put it on the forum. I am very self-conscious about things like that and this is the only thing causing me grief.

Hiya, I know that my surgeon asked me what I thought my goal weight would be, and then he told me what he thought I would get down to with the surgery. Even though nothing is written in stone. On the tongs, I don't know never heard about that, but I do know that they will help you with all that at the hospital. Don't be embarassed I used to work in one, you are paying good money for their help, let them. As far as home, then you might need something else, if there is noone to help you. I don't know if that helps but I hope so.

At my consult, the Dr. told me gave me a goal weight of 185 but immediately told me that I would lose more than that. He didn't give me a goal date. I don't think he's worried about it as long as I'm working hard in the right direction. As you can see, I'm a little more impatient. I want it yesterday!! 
I didn't take tongs to the hospital and I didn't need them.

HIYA....
i cant answer the goal thingie as when that was put up here i was already close enough to goal ...anyway I did though along my journy set mini goals for myself with little rewards for me to help me thru the ups and downs of this journey!
FIRST was to loose the first 50 lbs...then 75...then 100 then getting into ONEDERLAND and each reward was celebrated by me weather i bought new clothes
or went and had my nails done! THAT helped me thru the year to combat the blues.
as for the tongs i managed with some pain to wipe without them.
ITS a personal choice but i strongly advise packing chapstick
or some other sort of lip balm and possibly a phone calling card.
I know from my hospitol i was not able to call my home direct without jumping thru to many hoops cause it was considered a LOCAL call, so the calling card helped me call home without calling collect and things like that were a pain in the butt when i was tired and on pain meds....
ALL the best on your surgery!!!!
its an exciteing and emotional time!

i didnt get a weight from my surgeon. They asked what i wanted to get down to and told me i would probably surpass it within a year. Which is fine. I have no clue what 145 even looks like on me. Tongs?? what are tongs??

TONGS are those grabbers for salad that are like a spoon and fork joined.
I dont know but some people have issues wipeing post op and use that to assist. I did fine with those things and really didnt do my BM's till i was home ...so i had no need in the hospitol yet others say its a must have. Target : Oneida Salad Tongs
i personally had no need for this.....but i guess as with all things
in this surgery were all different.
