Default So hacked off!

Well, the dust has settled on a bad day yesterday. I got as far as getting my name tag on my wrist and being briefed by the anaesthetist before being told that my op was cancelled due to the lack of an Intensive Care bed. I waited over 4 hours for that news. The surgeon then gave me three choices...

1) To return today and have the op but the snag is that he is leaving tomorrow to go to another hospital and wouldnt be around to take care of any complication.

2)Wait three weeks for his successor and have the op with him not knowing anything about my case.

3) Wait SIX weeks and go to the new hospital (right in the centre of London) with my present surgeon.

I chose option 3. Needless to say that Im hacked off in the extreme after having lived on soup and yoghurt for the last 14 days and getting all psyched up for the op.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I am so sorry to hear that. I probably would have gone with option 3. Those six weeks will fly by.

Hey Sorry Panman...Thats got to be frustrating as hell !! How long have you been waiting...in Canada the wait time is rediculus. I waited 6 mths to see him now I got 6 mths to the operation. In some places especailly in Toronto Ontario you can wait up to 2 or 3 yrs! I hope the 6 weeks go fast for you !!

That's really awful, but I too believe there's a reason for everything and someday you may figure out why this delay happened. Six weeks will go pretty fast.

I coundnt imagine what your feeling right now. However, Im sure you made the right choice. Somebody made a big mixed up on getting you a bed for sure. Dont seem fair does it. I have to wonder if your surgeon would have been there for you post op even if you had it done on your orginal day. Keep the faith honey. At least its not 2 years like your wait was. That dont seem to help I know. I will be having mine in September so it looks like we will be together having ours done. I hope your week gets better after this for sure. Take care

I totaly feel your pain been there done that. I was suposed to have the surgery a fue years back and my surgen at the time pull a similar thing. He told me he was going to Iraq and would not be able to do the surgery but he would put me with this other docter in the office. NO WAY! I thought this surgen knows nothing about me and im not trowing my body around to what ever chopping block. so i did not do it.

Well this time around I have a great doctor BUT They have me doing meda-fast NO FOOD for 52 days and I still dont know if my insurace is approving me or not and i have a surgery date set and everything. MY thoughts are if they are starving me and I don't get to get my surgery someone is going to have me barking up there tree thats all i got to say.

I hope the weeks go bye fast for you good luck

((((((HUGS))))))
If your surgeon can do the surgery in a better frame of mind, that is the best for you, and all his other patients.
Obviously, if he feels there's a lack of good environment in the original hospital, that's going to cramp his style, and decrease his concentration and efficacy, which is not good for you.
The 6 week wait may be a bummer right now, but it's probably the best thing that happened to you, next to this surgery.

Hang in there, (((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.
