Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I'm getting so excited about the big day and was looking over my pre-op diet and had some questions. What kind of protein drink should I get? My preop diet says I should get something that has 20g protein and less than 7g carbs per serving. I'm looking at the Isopure but it has 25g protein per scoop and they list 2 scoops as a serving. I'm really confused. Would that mean that I only have one scoop or is it ok to have two scoops? Sometimes you have to spell things out for me. Can anyone give me an example of the preop diet you followed?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | HARD to answer that being everyone is put on different requirements and diets. I would focus mostly on a PROTEIN shake that you like the taste more so then how much protein...i feel post op you can never have to much protein. I made sure my shakes were lo in carbs and sugars was my key to watch. I used EAS carb control protein shakes because i am lazy and they came in ready mades......and i can get them in 4 packs at my local walmart. I would try to get sites to send you samples before you purchase cause some shakes can taste pretty icky....i fancy the powder kinds up with bananas, surgar free syrups, peanut butter, flavor extracts. I also used a NECTAR fuzzy naval protein drink and would freeze it up like a slushie and enjoy it on the hot days ! GOOD LUCK in finding a shake thats great for you. THE e store on the site offers some buti cant say i ever tried them ALSO my tastes post op are completely different then pre op and i go for far different type flavors and i am very picky post op so i wouldnt stock up to much on things they may have zero appeal post op.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi. The shakes ( as everyone will tell you) are going to be a matter of tatse. I used isopure but I was required to have a minimum of 60g of protein per day in any increments. By that i mean I could use two scoops on one shake and be almost done with my intake for the day. those were my instructions from my dr but everyone instructions seem to be different. isorpure says 2 scoops is one serving but thats for those muscle men people. thats what the shake is really intended for lol! you will be fine with just one scoop. you arent going to be able to drink an entire shake anyways immediately after surgery. Again it's also a matter of taste. i prefer my shakes a little thick... there are a few sites that sell samples at a reduced price so you can take them for a "test drive" before you shell out all that money. This stuff is EXPENSIVE. I have all different kinds for variety. I get bored VERY EASILY. Try this: Welcome to the UNJURY Homepage you might like what they have. They offer sample size packets and their prices arent too bad. Good luck. I'm SO excited for you! ![]() OOOPs i forgot the second part: i didnt really have a pre-op diet. i wasnt requred to fast or anything. BUT be careful because what you may like now prior tp surgery, you may not like post op. Dont spend a lot of money on anything because as LIsa says tastes do change. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | JUST wanted to add i had no preop specific diet by my surgeon. MY surgeon just required me to loose 25 lbs before my surgery date. I used atkins induction and achieved this rather easily ( aside from some stress along the way i did fine). SO everyone has to follow a different thing pre op some are even put on MEDIFAST shakes i believe one of our lovely memebers is on that right now. THEY say pre op weight loss promotes less complications from the surgery and reduces our liver size for a safe easy lap surgery! HUGS

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | My doc had me to do either isopure or unjury powders or atkins and slimfast low carb shakes. My caution to you is don't go overboard with buying too much. I loved slimfast before surgery now I can not stand them they are too sweet. Just a little caution. Roz

| This is such good information! Like most people, I want to be prepared and have everything organized before surgery. I had thought to get all the shakes and protein powders, vitamins and such before surgery but now, I think I will just get sample sizes of things and decide what I tolerate best after surgery. Thanks for all the input! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I suggest you try to get some samples sent to you so you dont buy to much. Everyones tastes are different and i will add that post op most people tend to say that their taste buds changed. I know mine did I use the Jay Robb brand protein, its the only one that i can tolerate both how it tastes and how it sits in my tummy. Its a little more expensive then some of the others mentioned but its my favorite and i have used it for 2 years now. Its all trial and error . Pre op i was on a high protein low carb diet until a week before surgery then i was on the medifast. The thinking with this type diet is that high protein low carb shrinks the liver making for a clearer surgery field for the surgeon. Alos the high protein aids in healing the body after surgery. I would also suggest starting your vitamin regimen pre op as well. The body needs to be in its best shape pre op to help with recovery. Best of luck LittleLisaMarie ![]() |

| Thanks Lisa Marie. I got a list from the nutritionist of all the vitamin, minerals, etc. and the amounts that I will need. It can cost four times as much buying through the surgeons office and I buy all meds that I can from Puritan's Pride online. They do this great buy one get two free thing and sometimes it is buy two get three, four, or five free. They also have whey protein powder but it is not included in the sales so I think I will get that elsewhere so I can get samples to try. |
