My insurance gave me the go-ahead. My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 11. I have been going back and forth about lap band and bypass. I think bypass is my choice...

Congrats! What a hurdle that can be. My MD's office has the ins thing down to a science so, while it took a while be sure to qualify, it's been a good process. You'll be amazed how quick this couple of months will fly by. I'm scheduled July 10th

Congrats...this is such and emotional thing. I am so excited/nervous etc... My family keeps asking me...why so soon. Sept 11 isn't that soon. Not to mention I've been overweight for many years.
How are your feelings about your upcoming surgery???

Let's just say I was glad to read about others being on an emotional roller coaster. I think the reality of my surgery hit when I went for pre-op. Those dern consent forms!!!! I was always big - I remember knowing I was the biggest kid pre-kindergarten - Always back row kid!!!! I decided on the RNY although I have seen a couple of people who had Lap RNY -- I guess that could give an extra measure of control. I chose RNY because I would find it difficult to control my food choices and would not have to give up the very foods that got me into this mess!!! Ice cream slides right past the band I've heard. I have decided to swear off sugar - a VERY difficult decision for me, but I know it is the right one. Also, like Fr1endly2, I don't want to know if I can have it post op, I will assume it will make me throw up and I'd rather do most anything than throw up!

I will find out my date on Monday. LOL I have been approved now for a couple of months. I decided to wait until Sept to have mine done because of work issues. When they called to schudlue for Sept at the hosptial they were told the books would not be open until July 1st for September to sch it yet. So Hopefully on Monday I will know. I have asked to have it done the week of Sept 16th. Me and the hubby are on vacation the week before for 3 days.
