Default time to pay the piper

So, starting today, I have to begin a new diet to prepare for surgery. It consists of two meal replacement shakes and one meal of high protein, low carb, low fat. low sugar. Then, in two more weeks I go strictly to three meal replacement shakes until the 30th which is the day of my surgery.

I really, really am worried that I can't maintain this for a month. After all, I am addicted to food or I wouldn't be obese. There are no other health reasons for my obesity so it is mainly that I can't control my eating. And, now I am supposed to embrace this eating plan for a month? Well, let me tell you that I am going to do everything in my power to do exactly that! It is about time for me to come to grips with the poor decisions I have made in the past and choose to prepare myself for surgery with the best possible chance of success. I know all the reasons for this plan of eating before surgery and I 'get' how helpful this will be for me AFTER surgery when the real battle will begin.

So, wish me luck and ignore me when I whine or give me a quick kick in the shins! Here's to a successful month!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Good luck on your pre-op diet!!
It will be hard, especially in the beginning, and you may get some tiredness, headaches, etc, symptoms that come with detoxing your body of the bad foods, but you will need to just keep chugging along.
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, (((((((HUGS))))))) and come vent and whine here whenever you want to, that's what we're here for.

ITs a mixed thing going on such harsh diets pre op.
I know my surgeon required me to loose weight pre op.
AND many said to me duh,,,,if you could loose weight
you wouldnt need this surgery.
I didnt listen to them...and did what he required.
MY surgeon believes it reduces complications and makes
his surgery easier by reducing the fatty liver size to make
room to see during the lapriscopic procedure. NOT all surgeons
require this.
BUT in all honestly! I feel if it wasnt required of me i would have
went on "LAST SUPER BINGES" gain more weight that in the end
i would have then had MORE to get off post op!
SO in my journey i was very thankful i had that extra 25 lbs
done pre op!
HUGS!
you can do it!
I think like me if you want the surgery bad enough you would move
mountains if you had too!
hugs

mine didn't have us do that either on the preop diet and I DO feel for those who have to do that. Most docs give the reason that it is to shrink the liver in size prior to the surgery?

Thanks everybody and Lisa, I so agree with you! I don't want to complicate matters by eating on another 20 pounds before surgery and my surgeon agrees about the liver. He also says that it is also to prove to yourself that you WILL be able to follow the rules if you manage to follow the rules prior to the surgery.

Yea Bree if you have ever watched the surgery done you will see that difference it makes. They showed 2 different people having it done and compared them to each other as far as the surgery went. Ya know fat looks just like fat. Now they have told me I have a fatty liver. I found this out before I even went to my surgeon the first time. Mine dont require a pre op diet but I will have to put my self on some what of one on purpose knowing that I do have a fatty liver. When you lose weight from what I am told, You lose that fatty liver. My mother was DX with one. The brother that is a year younger than my self was DX with one to. Scared him so bad he lost 20 pounds and started working out in the weight room at his work and demanded another Ct Scan in 3 months. He cured himself. Its very strange what we do to our bodys for sure. Some of it we never relize that we did it.

celadon I am also doing the shake thing I did 2 weeks of shakes and lean green. Now I am doing 5 more of just shakes. It really has not been bad at all. I was getting sick of makeing the lean green meal so i was happy to be on just the shakes. If you ever need someone to talk to im here. I go to the doctors office once a week now to weigh in also.
I am not scedualed for surgery till aug 6 so just think you will have your surgery and home feeling better and able to eat agen and i will still be meda-fasting it out.

remember this
keep you eyes on the prize!
when ever i get week i think of this

take care
Ashley (always just a click away good luck)
